Larix principis-rupprechtii seed orchard is a base for producing seeds with excellent quality of seeding and heredity.Superior clones for Larix principis-rupprechtii that are both excellent in their seed production and offspring growth can be selected to improve the production efficiency in seed orchard. This article carried out relevant research from many aspects, such as the investigation of seed yield and quality, germination rate, offspring growth, and EST-SSR marker analysis. From these,we found out the differences among clones in quality of seeds, growth of offspring and genetic diversity. The results were as follows.1.There were significant differences in 1000-grain weight, fullness rate, seed yield, germination rate, germination potential, absolute germination rate and other indicators of the first generation of Larix principis-rupprechtii in our orchard. It suggested that Larix principis-rupprechtii has great potential for selection.Using the membership function to screen out the seed quality,86 clones were selected.2.There were significant differences in DBH,height and volume among the families of Larix principis-rupprechtii.It suggested that screen excellent families can be performed through the growth traits of half-sib offspring.A total of 53 clones were selected by volume of timber.3.EST-SSR Marker were used to analyze the genetic diversity of the first generation seed orchard of Larix principis-rupprechtii.According to comparative analysis, all the 14 excellent clones, which integrated quality and growth of offspring were excellent have a relatively distant ties of consanguinity. It not only satisfied the diversity of germplasm resources, but also ensured the richness of the descendants.
