To promote the resource utilization of forestry wastes and optimize the practice of seedlings for valuable timber species,Betula alnoides and Tectona grandis was used as the test objects and wood fiber, sawdust, coir dust, and retted bark were taken as main raw materials to form 16 different matrix formulations with different volume ratios in this experiment.Through the determination and analysis of the seedling growth indexs, biomass indexs and physiological indexs, the growth of Betula alnoides and Tectona grandis with different substrates and fertilizer formulations was investigated. Finally, the most suitable matrix formula and fertilizing formula for the two tree species were selected, which can provide theoretical data and technical support for the utilization of forestry wastes and the breeding of two precious species. The results are as follows:1.Screening of matrix fomulas: Taking wood fiber(WB),sawdust(SD),coir dust(CD),and retted bark(RB)as main raw materials, peat(PT),yellow soil(YS),perlite(PL),vermiculite(VC)and burned soil(BS)as auxiliary materials,16 different matrix formulations were mixed with different volume ratios, and the formula T1(V(yellow soil):V(sawdust):V(burned soil)=6:3:1),which was frequently used as the main raw materials of yellow soil for Tectona grandis, was used as the control in this experiment.Combined with the physical and chemical properties of the substrate, the growth condition of the two seedlings in different substrates was comprehensively analyzed and the optimal substrate formulation for the growth of Betula alnoides was selected as T11 [V(coir dust):V(wood fiber):V(peat)= 3:4:3].Besides,T12 [V(coir dust):V(wood fiber):V(peat)=3:3:4] is also good for nursery, but considering the purpose of this paper is to reduce the use of peat. The amount, therefore, will only be T11 as the best nursery substrate formulation for Betula alnoides.Three matrix formulas were selected for Tectona grandis growth were T10 [V(wood fiber):V(peat):V(perlite)= 5:3:1],T11 and T12,of which T12 was the best for nursery while T11 is the second, but considering the reduction of peat as well, the most suitable formula for the growth of Tectona grandis seedlings is also T11,and T10 as an alternative matrix.2.Screening of the fertilization: The experimental was based on the comprehensive analysis of different fertilization formulas on the growth of Betula alnoides and Tectona grandis seedlings on the basis of T11[V(coir dust):V(wood fiber):V(peat)]= 3:4:3 as the cultivation substrate. The results show:(1)the effect of formula fertilization(the contend of N?P?K is different)on the growth of two seedlings was better than that of single factor fertilization.(2)nitrogen fertilizer had the most significant effect on the growth of two seedlings by single factor fertilization, the growth of Betula alnoides which get N1(nitrogen 0.3 gram)is better while growth of Tectona grandis which get N4(nitrogen 1.2 gram)and N5(nitrogen 1.5 gram)are better. When Tectona grandis get nitrogen more than 0.3 gram, its growth will be inhabited more per plant with the increase of nitrogen fertilizer;(3)Through the way of three-factor and five-level quadratic regression universal rotation design to design experiment with different fertilization formula, then,we can establish a regression model of fertilization formula and seedling quality index, and calculate the best fertilization formula.According to the regression model,we can get best fertilization formula of Betula alnoides,is 0.6 gram nitrogen,0.9 gram phosphorus, and 0.6 gram potassium;the best fertilizer formula of Tectona grandis,is 0.25 gram nitrogen,1.80 gram phosphorus,1.20 gram potassium.
