The red fire ant Solenopsis invicta(Buren)is one of most important invasive ants, which has caused great economic and ecological damage to the invading country. The red imported fire ant have been listed as one of the most invasive and destructive invasive pests in the world, because of its harm in agricultural production, ecological environment and public safety.Currently, the classification and harm of are similar to that of the black imported fire ant Solenopsis richteri(Forel),hybrid ant(Solenopsis invicta × s.richteri).Based on GC-MS technique, this paper analyzes cuticular hydrocarbon composition and the differences between each other among three kinds of fire ants,it includes analyzing cuticular hydrocarbon composition and difference among major, medium, and minor, various castes of workers in Guangdong populations of the red imported fire ant,at the same time, the composition and difference among those of red imported fire ant, black imported fire ant and hybrid imported fire ant,and the structure and difference between geographical populations of Guangdong,China and Mississippi,US.The main results are as follows:1.The formation of cuticular hydrocarbons in the polymorphic workers of the red fire imported ant population. There was no significant difference in the composition of cuticular hydrocarbons in the major, medium, and minor adult workers and the same species were all 28,with different content. The types and content of n-alkanes are the least dimethylalkanes and monomethylalkanes.2.The formation of cuticular hydrocarbons between various stages and different castes of the red fire ant.(1)Different insect stage: there were significant differences in the cuticular hydrocarbons among larvae, pupae and adult.Larvae and pupae contain 7~8 kinds of CHCs and adults contained 28 species. There were 10 kinds of cuticular hydrocarbons in pupae of alate female. There were 9 kinds in pupae of alate males, and 30 kinds in the adults of alate females. There were 20 kinds in adults of alate males.(2)Different castes: workers, alate females, alate males, and queen's cuticular hydrocarbons were significantly different. There were 28 kinds in workers of red imported fire ant. There were 30 kinds of alate females,20 kinds of alate males and 36 kinds of queens. The difference between queen ants and females is less than that of queens and the males.3.Analysis of hydrocarbon compounds of workers in two geographical populations of red imported fire ant.(1)Adult workers: Workers contained 28 kinds of cuticular hydrocarbons in Guangdong population,Mississippi population contained 16 kinds, but the peak time was consistent with the carbon number range, the main compounds of similar content.(2)Females: there was no significant difference between the Guangdong and Mississippi populations. There are 29 kinds in Guangdong population, and 30 kinds in Mississippi population. The retention time is consistent with the carbon number range, which contains 25 kinds of compounds.4.Analysis of hydrocarbon compounds among three sibling species of fire ants. There were significant differences among three kinds of fire ants. There were 28 kinds of hydrocarbons from all of red imported fire ant, black imported fire ant;hybrid imported fire ant, which was different in compound categories and concentration. The discriminant analysis can distinguish the three clearly(the cross validation is returned, the qualified rate is 100%).
