The Cultivation And Utilization Of Canarium Albumin Guangdong Since Ming Dynasty(1368-2005 Years)

Canarium album(Lour.)Raeusch.is one of the native fruit in Southern China and can be used in various way,noticed by the antiquities and recorded in ancients documents.Because of the special flavor,Canarium album were given a cultural connotations by ancient writers.In nowadays,it still has high edible and medical value.Guangdong is one of the main areas of Canarium album production in China.Cultivation history of Canarium album in Guangdong is already over 2000 years.Based on the previous study,in this article the author would try to discuss the cultivation and utilization of Canarium album in Guangdong since the Ming Dynasty.This thesis is divided into six chapters.The first part is summarized the former study of Canarium album in Guangdong.So far,a few studies about this plant in academic circles,and most of them prefer to research the biological characteristics of Canarium album by used modern scientific methods.There are few studies about the development of cultivation and utilization of Canarium album.But,as a fruit which has the long history,high value of edible and medical,also cultural connotations,the study of the cultivation and utilization history of Canarium album is evidently significant.As there were many different name of Canarium album in ancient documents,it is necessary to make a textual research.Then specified the research object in this paper is Canarium album(Lour.)Raeusch.,but not Canarium pimela Leenh.or Olea europaea L.Because people are usually confuse them.According to the data in literature,obvious change of acreages of Canarium album in Guangdong could be found since the Ming Dynasty.There are only 13 areas had been records about this plant during the Ming Dynasty.Then it expanded to almost every county in the Qing Dynasty.But the acreages decreased again in the Republic of China.Based on analyze,the author considered the temperature is the critical factor in the changing of acreages.Then introduce different types of Canarium album in Guangdong province since the Ming Dynasty.According to the different shape features and place of production,Canarium album could be divided into many different types.The main aspects of historical change of cultivation technology include growth habit,growing methods,management technology,pest control,picking and storage.After a careful research we can find that there are so few historical records about the culture management technology,and there are so much records about the special methods of picking in ancient books.A long time ago,people had realized that Canarium album can be used in many ways.So,in the last part of the paper the author analyzed the utilization of Canarium album from several aspects: eating,medicating,using in object and used as perfume.
