Sports turf can be divided into nature turf and synthetic turf according to the establishment materials.The two kinds of sports turf have their own advantages and disadvantages.Natural turf is safer and more comfortable for players,however its surface can't resist heavy traffic,and maintenance cost a lot.Therefore its usage intensity is limited.Synthetic turf can resist heavy traffic,can be used in all kinds of weather and only need lower maintenance cost while its construction cost a lot and playing quality is poor,easily leading to injury with players.With the concept of using advantages of synthetic turf to offset disadvantages of nature turf,it is of great significance to develop a new type of natural-synthetic hybrid sports turf with the same excellent traffic tolerance as synthetic turf and the same comfortable and safe surface as nature turf.In this study a series of pot experiments were carried out on specification of punching holes on traditional synthetic grass base,screening of types of traditional synthetic grass and woven type synthetic grass,and screening of grass species for seeding in order to find out an ideal combinations of natural-synthetic hybrid sports turf system by measuring of growth speed and biomass of natural grass and of coverage,density and uniformity of hybrid turf.The field trial on three types of synthetic grass(12000 dtex with 400 weft density,8000 dtex with 450 weft density,8000 dtex with 400 weft density)was established under heavy and light traffic intensity to further study on natural grass performance(growth rate and biomass)and the hybrid turf quality(coverage,density and uniformity)whereas the physiological responses of natural grass(leaf relative conductivity,dissociative proline,MDA,SOD)in hybrid turf and playing performance of hybrid turf(rolling performance,rebound performance,traction and surface traction were systematically studied.The main findings are as follows:(1)For the hybrid turf system with traditional synthetic grass,specification of punching holes of 10 mm diameter and spacing interval of 2.5 cm is suitable for naturalgrass growth whereas it is better for woven type synthetic grass with specification of pound 12000 dtex,dense 80 and weft density 400.(2)Seed type bermudagrass and perennial ryegrass are more suitably used for planting on a hybrid sports turf system.(3)The natural-synthetic hybrid sports turf system can enhance the stability of the surface of the sports field and is more resistant to traffic than natural grass turf.Hybrid turf system quality are better than natural turf under all different traffic treatments and hybrid system turf quality with specification of 8000 dtex 400 weft is better under high traffic condition.The hybrid turf improved the rebound performance and surface traction compared to the synthetic turf,making it closer to the natural turf.(4)Based on comprehensive analysis of experiment results on turf quality,physiological responses and playing performance of hybrid sports turf system,synthetic grass with specification of 8000 dtex with 400 weft is more suitable for natural-synthetic hybrid sports turf system.
