Species diversity and functional diversity are important reflections of the structure of the community. It describes the biodiversity-ecosystem-function(BEF)and can better reflect the relationship between community species and functional traits. In this study, field investigation and laboratory analysis were combined to study the species diversity and functional diversity of the community in different mowing ways in the typical steppe of Stipa grandis in Inner Mongolia. This paper discusses the structural changes of typical steppe community under different mowing methods. The main results are as follows:1.The species richness of “cut 50 meters retained 10 meters every year”?“mowing once a year”?“cut 50 meters retained 5 meters every year” were significantly higher than control(p<0.05),which was not significantly different from the control(p>0.05).The Shannon-weaver index of “mowing once a year” and “cut 50 meters retained 5 meters every year” was significantly higher than that of control(p<0.05),and the Shannon-weaver index of “cut 50 meters retained 5 meters every year” and“mowing twice a year” was not significantly different from the control(p>0.05).2.The fertile tillers height(cm),the total leaf area of plants(cm2),and the leaf area of plant per plant(cm2)were significantly associated with grassland productivity in “mowing once a year”(p<0.001).And there was a significant positive correlation between these three shapes. For the “mowing twice a year” treatment, only leaf length had a significant effect on grassland productivity(p<0.05).The similarities and differences between the two groups of “cut 50 meters retained 5 meters every year”and “cut 50 meters retained 10 meters every year” are similar to those of the “mowing once a year”,and the productivity is significantly affected by species height and leaf area(p<0.05).3.The total leaf area of the community plants was also significantly correlated with leaf length and leaf area(p<0.05).There was a significant positive correlation between the functional divergence index of the fertile tillers height and the steriletillers height, the leaf length of the plant, and the leaf area of the single leaf. The functional dispersion index was significantly and negatively correlated with the four species diversity indices(p<0.05).Under the disturbance of mowing, the species diversity in the community increased, and the community model evolved toward trait-divergence assembly patterns.
