The study of plant functional traits and functional diversity has great significance for biodiversity and ecosystem research. To identify the effect of different grazing intensity, different grazing time, and different resource utilization way on plant function characters,Leymus chinensis community was selected as the research object and the results are as follows:1.The stem quality and stem length of Leymus chinensis significantly reduced caused by grazing, and thus those L.chinensis showed the obvious small change features. The above mentioned indicators have improved somewhat by reducing the intensity of grazing. While grazing time had little effects on those indicators. The effects of mowing on those indicators less than that of grazing. No sensitive indicator was found. While the inert index are more than that of grazing.L.chinensis community adapted to grazing and mowing by sacrificing the photosynthetic organ.2.The branch and leaf number of Stipa krylovii increased significantly due to grazing and mowing. While an opposite result was found for the plexus, plant height, and leaf area. The effects of mowing on those indicators less than that of grazing.S.krylovii adapted to grazing and mowing by increasing the number of branches, lower the leaf area and thus enhanced the way of relative photosynthetic capacity.3.The total leaf area and plant height of Cleistogenes squarrosa declined significantly due to grazing and mowing. The ground biomass and plexus of C.squarrosa also declined significantly caused by grazing. While those indicators not controlled by mowing.C.squarrosa adapted to grazing by ensuring the number of nutrition branch and leaf. While it adapted to mowing by increasing plexus amplitude and the number of reproductive branch.4.The evenness index function increased significantly due to grazing. While the mowing had little effect on the indicator.Grazing was good for the equilibrium of community resource utilization. The effects of mowing on improving the species diversity and function diversity less than that of grazing.5.Stem and leaf functional traits plasticity size: full seasons grazing > grazing begin July > grazing begin June > grazing begin May > mowing.
