Adonia variegata(Goeze),a dominant species of natural enemies in the cotton field,prey on Aphis gossypii Glover and other various pests.The growth and development of Adonia variegata(Goeze)are significantly affected by temperature.In this research,Adonia variegata(Goeze)are taken as the object.Different temperature is set according to natural condition in Shihezi region to study the control effects of Adonia variegata(Goeze)on Aphis gossypii Glover under different temperature,the two-sex life table of Adonia variegata(Goeze)is also constructed.We hope to have a further understanding of the pest-controlling effects of polymorphous ladybugs and provide theoretical parameters for the establishment of biological control of Adonia variegata(Goeze)in the future.Adonia variegata(Goeze)and Aphis gossypii Glover around Shihezi area are used in this experiment as the source of further study.We raised them in incubators at the laboratory of Shihezi University and recorded the developmental period,adult longevity,spawning data and predation data.The main findings are followed:1.Study on the two-sex life table of Adonia variegata(Goeze)raised on cotton aphid under different temperature: the developmental duration,adult longevity and fecundity are studied under 17 ?,23 ?,29 ? and 35 ?.Result shows that the developmental duration of Adonia variegata(Goeze)is gradually shortened with the increase of temperature.The developmental durations of Adonia variegata(Goeze)are 53.93 d,24.41 d,15.77 d and 11.64 d respectively under four temperature levels.The average life span of male individual is generally longer than than female when they are kept under the same temperature level.The age-specific survival rates of Adonia variegata(Goeze)shows a significant difference under different temperature treatments.For example,the hatching rate in the egg stage of the Adonia variegata(Goeze)are increased with increasing temperature,while the emergence rate appears to increase first and then decrease during the pupal period.Under different temperature treatments,we used the TWOSEX-MSChart software to fit the relationship between the developmental speed and temperature of Adonia variegata(Goeze).And it turns out that their relationship can be clarify correctly by TWOSEX-MSChart.It is found that under different temperature treatments,Adonia variegata(Goeze)can complete their life history.With the increasing of temperature,both the intrinsic rate of growth and the weekly rate of growth get increased while the average period of generations is gradually decreased and the net reproductive raterises first and then decreases.2.Study on control effect of Adonia variegata(Goeze)under different temperature treatments.The results show that the functional response of larvae and adults on cotton aphid belongs to Holling-II.With the increasing of temperature,the predatory ability of Adonia variegata(Goeze)to prey on cotton aphid is gradually increased and then gradually goes to a steady state.Under constant temperature conditions,the searching effect of all insects on the cotton aphid gets decreased with the increasing of density;at the same density,the effect of all insects on the searching for cotton aphid is increased with the increasing of temperature.The predation responses of second-instar,third-instar,fourth-instar,and larvae of Adonia variegata(Goeze)at 17?,23 ?,29 ?,and 35 ? are in line with the trend of the actual value,and the linearity of fit is good.Along with the increasing in the age of Adonia variegata(Goeze)and temperature,the fitting is getting better and better.Under the condition of 35?,the a/Th of the Adonia variegata(Goeze)insects is the largest and the predation ability is the strongest.Experiments have shown that under different temperature treatments,the control effect of Adonia variegata(Goeze)on cotton aphid gradually increases with the increasing of temperature,and becomes stable after 29?.Regarding the reproduction of Adonia variegata(Goeze),the net reproductive rate of Adonia variegata(Goeze)at23 ? is the largest and the average generation period is much greater than it is at 29 and 35 ?.The net reproduction rate at 29 ? is similar to the net reproductive rate at23 ?.Therefore,in terms of the average generation cycle and other factors,the optimum temperature for to Adonia variegata(Goeze)breed is 29 ?.
