| The composting method is a low-cost and environmentally friendly method that can turn waste into treasure. And most of the physicochemical properties of biochar may have the ability to promote composting. However, there are fewer reports on using biochar as a compost raw material and studying its impact on the composting process. Therefore,a small compost test was conducted in this study.Biochars with concentrations of 5%,10%,and 15% were added to the early(T1),middle(T2),and late(T3)stages of the compost, and a total of 10 treatments.Preliminary study on the effect of biochar on the pH,Conductivity,C/N,Total Nitrogen,Total Phosphorus,Total Potassium,Total Nutrient,Nitrate Nitrogen,Ammonium Nitrogen,Inorganic Nitrogen,Organic Nitrogen, and Organic Matter Contents of straw composting. With a view to providing reference for biochar assisted composting.(1)Adding different concentrations of biochar during the early stages of composting, compost pH,electrical conductivity and C/N and total nitrogen, total phosphorus, total potassium, total nutrients, nitrate nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen, inorganic nitrogen, organic nitrogen and organic matter contents have different degrees of change. The treatment of b3 can significantly increase the content of electrical conductivity, total phosphorus, total potassium and total nutrients, and can significantly reduce the content of ammonium nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, inorganic nitrogen and organic matter.Treatments b1 and b2 can speed up the compost pH increase after 70 days in composting process. The total nitrogen content of all treatments and controls increased with time, while C/N showed a downward trend.(2)Adding different concentrations of biochar in the middle stage of composting, treatment b3 can basically significantly improve the pH,electrical conductivity, total nutrients, total phosphorus, total potassium, and nitrate nitrogen content of the compost in each stage, but ultimately significantly reduced the compost’s ammonium nitrogen content, inorganic nitrogen content and organic matter content.(3)Adding different concentrations of biochar at the end of composting, the pH value, electrical conductivity, total phosphorus, total potassium, nitrate nitrogen, and total nutrient content of b3 were significantly higher than those of the control. The total nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen, inorganic nitrogen, organic nitrogen, and organic matter content were significantly lower than the control.(4)In summary, different ways of adding biochar have different effects on the physical and chemical indicators of straw composting.Among them, adding 15% biochar in the late stage of composting is beneficial to increase the pH value,C/N,electrical conductivity, total potassium and nitrate nitrogen content of straw compost;adding 15% biochar in the early stage of composting is beneficial to increase the total phosphorous content and the total nutrient content of straw compost. |
