This paper had mainly studied the effects of different growth period on the nutrient contents of red clover and feeding red clover and alfalfa on digestion and metabolism and sex hormone content of plasma of sheep.Effects of different cropping and different growth stages on growth performance and nutrient contents of red clover. With the red clover in different growth stages as the object of study, this study compared the growth and the change of main nutrient contents of red clover in different growth stages by measuring its growth performance index and nutrient index, thereby providing reference for local red clover planting and timely harvesting.Result showed that the first crop, the plant height, fresh yield, hay yield of the flowering stage of red clover all extremely significant higher than initial stage(P<0.01);the neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent fiber of the flowering stage of red clover all significantly higher than initial stage(P<0.05);But the crude ash and calcium of initial stage all significantly higher than flowering stage(P<0.05).The second crop,in terms of plant height and hay yield, flowering stage all extremely significant higher than initial stage(P<0.01);In terms of calcium and phosphorus contents, initial stage all extremely significant higher than flowering stage(P<0.01);crude ash contents significant higher than flowering stage(P<0.05);The neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent fiber contents of flowering stage all significantly higher than initial stage(P<0.05).Effects of red clover and alfalfa on digestion and metabolism, antioxidant indexes and sex hormone levels of sheep. In this study,12 of similar weight[(82.41±9.07)kg] and age(about 2 years old)of Suffolk rams were selected, they were randomly divided in to two group, each group of six as control group and experimental group. Each group was fed 0.5 kg of corn flour and 2 kg of corn silage per day.On this basis, the control group and the experimental group of per sheep and per day were fed 1.2 kg alfalfa hay and red clover hay,28 d digestion and metabolism test was conducted. The feed conversion period is 7 d,the feeding period is 14 d,the official period is 7 d,at the last day of this text fasting blood was collected and plasma was centrifuged.Result showed that the experimental group of the intake of crude protein and acid detergent fiber was respectively lower than the control group 15.15%(P<0.01)and 13.11%(P<0.01);The apparent digestibility of dry matter, organic matter and acid detergent fiber were respectively higher than the control group 4.38%(P<0.05),5.10%(P<0.05),4.54%(P<0.05),The apparent digestibility of neutral detergent fiber was significantly higher than that of control group 10.78%(P <0.01),In the neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent fiber discharge, the control group were significantly higher than the experimental group, respectively, higher than 27.42%,26.50%.In the terms of the intake of nitrogen and calcium, the experimental group was respectively higher than the control group about 17.85%(P<0.05),7.35%(P<0.05).In term of superoxide dismutase, the experimental group was 22.7% significantly higher than control group(P<0.05);In terms of testosterone, dihydrotestosterone and estradiol, the experimental group was respectively higher than control group about 33.80%(P<0.05),39.23%(P<0.01),20.87%(P<0.01).This study shows that comprehensive the relationship between the nutrient in different growth stages of red clover and production performance,in order to the maximum utilization value of red clover can be gave full develop, the red clover should be cut in flowering stage. The digestion and utilization of nutrients in the diet of sheep can be improved by feeding red clover.Meanwhile, the antioxidant capacity of sheep body and the contents of plasma neutral hormone(androgen and estrogen)can be improved.
