Protective Effect Of Grape Seed Proanthocyanidins On Pearl Gentian Grouper (?Epinephelus Fuscoguttatus×?Epinephelus Lanceolatu) Exposed To Dietary Cadmium Stress

This trial was conduced to investigate the protective effects of grape seed proanthocyanidins(GSP)on the growth performance,serum biochemical indexes,the activities of digestive enzymes and antioxidant potential in intestine of pearl gentian grouper(?Epinephelus fuscoguttatus×?Epinephelus lanceolatu)exposed to dietary cadmium(Cd)stress.Two hundred and forty pearl gentian groupers were randomly divided into four groups with three replicates in each group and 20 fish per replicate.The four treatment groups were control group(the basal diet),Cd group(the basal diet+300 mg/kg Cd),Cd+GSP group I(the basal diet+300 mg/kg Cd+400 mg/kg GSP,and Cd+GSP group II(the basal diet+300 mg/kg Cd+800 mg/kg GSP group,respectively.The trial period was 42 days.Compared with Cd group,the FBW,WGR,SGR,DFI and FR of Cd+GSP group II were significantly increased(P<0.05),and the FE,HIS,VSI and SR were similar(P>0.05).The content of body moisture,the crude lipid level and the crude protein level were not significantly affected(P>0.05),and content of ash was significantly decreased(P<0.05).The levels of BUN,TG,TC and LDL-C were significantly decreased than those in Cd group(P<0.05).The levels of HDL-C,VC and ALB were significantly higher than those in Cd group(P<0.05).The level of VE and activities of ACP,AKP,GPT and GOT were not significantly affected(P>0.05).Compared with Cd group,the activities of lipase and protease in intestine of Cd+GSP group II were significantly improved(P<0.05),the amylase activities was not significantly affected(P>0.05);the T-AOC level and SOD activity of Cd+GSP group II were significantly increased(P<0.05),the MDA level was significantly decreased(P>0.05),and the activities of CAT and GSH-Px were not significantly affected(P>0.05).There were significant differences of DFI and FR related to growth performance,levels of TC,LDL-C,HDL-C and VC in serum,and levels of MDA and T-AOC between Cd+GSP group I and control group(P<0.05).Among all the parameters affected significantly by dietary Cd tress,no significant differences were found for the levels of whole fish ash,serum lipid(except for LDL-C),BUN and VC and activities of GPT and intestinal lipase(P>0.05).The results indicated that dietary 800 mg/kg GSP supplementation could improve growth performance,serum biochemical and intestinal health status of pearl gentian grouper exposed to dietary 300 mg/kg Cd stress under present trial condition.
