Plant functional traits play an important role in explaining the species distribution and the mechanism of species coexistence,and it become a hot topic in ecology study.Our study took the Larch birch forest and the Quercus wutaishanica forest in Taiyue Mountain as our objects,investigated plant functional traits of dominant species in the different functional groups(trees,shrubs and herbs)and the environment factors,in order to explore the distribution of traits,the effects of environmental factors on plant functional traits and trade-offs between plant functional traits.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The variation of plant functional traits was closely related to forest type and traits type.The results showed that the traits variation of the Q.wutaishanica forest was higher than that of the Larch birch forest,the traits variation of leaf functional traits was higher than that of stem traits,and the traits variation of morphological structure traits was higher than that of chemical indicators.(2)There were higher correlations between plant traits at species level than that at functional groups level.Leaf mass per area(LMA),leaf dry matter content(LDMC),stem diameter(SD)and stem specific density(SSD)were significantly related to the other traits,which can be used as the core traits associated with other traits in the study of plant traits.(3)There were differences in the differentiation of plant functional traits with scale changed.The main source of variation of LMA,LDMC,stem dry matter content(SSD),stem potassium conten(SKC),stem phosphorus content(SPC)was intraspecies.Leaf area(LA),leaf nitrogen content(LNC),stem carbon content(SCC),stem nitrogen content(SNC)mainly influenced by interspecific differentiation.(4)The influence of environmental factors on plant functional traits was related to the community type and functional groups.The explanatory power of the environment factors in the Larch birch forest is higher than that of the Q.wutaishanica forest.(5)In the Larch birch forest,species distribution is more uniform.Species diversity and functional diversity was significantly higher than that of the Q.wutaishanica forest.Species diversity and functional diversity were positively correlated through different functional groups.The explatation of environmental factors on species distribution and traits distribution were different.Species diversity was comprehensively influenced by multiple factors while the functional diversity mainly influenced by single factor.
