Eucryptorrhynchus scrobiculatus and E.brandti are the specificity borer pests on A ilanthus altissima(Mill)Swingle.Summarizing the deficiencies of existing monitoring and control techniques,we tested that taxis of weevils to colors, shapes and polarized lights. For larvae of E.brandti, pesticides were used for toxicity test and trunk injection. The main results were as follows:1.The taxis of E.scrobiculatus and E.brandti to colors and shapes was tested in the laboratory and field. The results showed that weevils were most sensitive to red and black in color selection test.In shape selection test, weevils can be attracted to tall and upright objects. In the field, both red and black traps could effectively capture E.scrobiculatus.When attractant was combined with color, combined traps had synergistic effects.2.The taxis of E.scrobiculatusis and E.brandti to types of polarized light was tested in the laboratory and field. The results showed that in indoor polarized light selection test, weevils had phototaxis, and E.scrobiculatusis can distinguish types of polarized light, but E.brandti was not sensitive to polarized light. In the field test, polarized light traps had a significantly higher recapture rate for E.scrobiculatusis than unpolarized light traps.3.Pesticides of highly effective and low-toxic were screened for control larvae of E.brandti in the laboratory and field. The results showed that in the laboratory toxicity test,LC50 of five pesticides for larvae of E.brandti were ranked as follows:4.5%highly effective cypermethrin>2.6%emamectin high chlorine fluorine>20%carbosulfan>10%imidacloprid>5%acetamiprid.In the field test, the results showed that 10%imidacloprid 10 times had good effect.
