The dormancy and germination test of newly harvested Hordeum brevisubulatum seeds were studied by hydrogen peroxide soaking, soaking in water, alternating wetting and drying, infrared irradiation, high temperature drying, threshing and gibberellin etc.The results showed that H.brevisubulatum seeds had strong dormancy, and the germination rate of newly harvested seeds was only 6.3%.Soaking seeds in clear water is not conducive to the dormancy of H.brevisubulatum seeds. In several hormone treatments, naphthaleneacetic acid, indole acetic acid and ethephon had inhibited the germination of H.brevisubulatum seeds in the dormant period.Soaking with hydrogen peroxide for 50 min, infrared irradiation for 20h,and alternating wet and dry treatment for 8 times can significantly increase the germination rate.Drying at 40℃ for 8 days, deicing and gibberellic acid concentration of 400mg/L soaking seeds can significantly increase the germination rate of H.brevisubulatum and break dormancy,Among them, the gibberellin concentration of 400ml/L soaking seeds for 12h was the best, which was a faster and more effective way to break the dormancy of H.brevisubulatum seeds and increase the germination rate. The dormancy of H.brevisubulatum seeds is not caused by a single factor, but by the comprehensive dormancy formed by various factors. The germination rate of H.brevisubulatum seeds was the highest under the condition of temperature change of 15/25℃,and the light had little effect on the germination of H.brevisubulatum seeds, which was light neutral seeds. The germination rate of H.brevisubulatum seeds stored for 2 to 5 years is high. All above 90%,After 7 years, the germination rate suddenly decreased. And the storage life of H.brevisubulatum seeds is 9 to 10 years. In the hormone treatment, the effect of gibberellin treatment on the germination rate of H.brevisubulatum seeds was not obvious.Different concentrations of naphthaleneacetic acid, indole acetic acid and 6-BA inhibited the seed germination of H.brevisubulatum seeds.
