The effects of glucose oxidase on growth performance,diarrhea rate,intestinal epithelium structure and serum biochemical indexes of weaned piglets were studied.A total of 160 healthy weaned Ningxiang×Hampshire×Yorkshire crossbred piglets of 9kg body weight,with equal numbers of males and females,were randomly allotted into 4 groups: control group(basal diet,no antibiotics),antibiotics group(basal diet + chlortetracycline 75 ppm + oxytetracycline calcium 160ppm),antibiotics+ GOD group(basal diet+ chlortetracycline 75 ppm + oxytetracycline calcium 60ppm+ 100 g glucose oxidase),and GOD group(basal diet +150 glucose oxidase).When the experiment was finished,piglets was conducted blood test,slaughtered,intestinal epithelium structural test,and intestinal content microculture.It was shown by the results that:(1)Regarding final weight,there was significant difference in final body weight among GOD group and antibiotics + GOD group,and control group(p<0.05),and no significant difference among GOD group and antibiotics + GOD group,and antibiotics group(p>0.05);regarding average daily weight gain,there was significant difference among among GOD group,antibiotics + GOD group,control group,and antibiotics group(p<0.05),while antibiotics group was significantly different from control group(p<0.05);regarding feed intake,there was significant difference among GOD group and antibiotics+ GOD group and other two groups(p<0.05),while there was no significant difference between control group and antibiotics group(p>0.05);compared with control group,the FCR of other three groups were significantly decreased(p<0.05),and the FCR of GOD group was significantly lower than antibiotics group(p<0.05);compared with control group,the diarrhea rate of other three groups were significantly lower(p<0.01),while antibiotics + GOD group was 6.84 times lower than control group in diarrhea rate,and lower than antibiotics group and GOD group by 140% and 134% respectively.(2)The amount of escherichia coli of antibiotics group,antibiotics + GOD group,GOD group were significantly lower than control group(p<0.05),while among three groups,there was no significant difference(p>0.05);the amount of escherichia coli in cecum of antibiotics + GOD group and GOD group were significantly lower than control(p<0.05),but not significantly different from antibiotics group(p>0.05).Regarding the number of lactic acid bacteria in ileum,GOD group was significantly higher than control(p<0.05),while among other three groups,there was no significant difference(p>0.05),but there was increasing trend,antibiotics + GOD group were 14% higher than control group;the amount of lactic acid bacteria in cecum showed an increasing trend,but among the groups,there was no significant difference(p>0.05).(3)Regarding villus height of duodenum,antibiotics + GOD group was significantly higher than control group and antibiotics group(p<0.01),and the GOD group too(p<0.01),while antibiotics group was significantly higher than control group(p<0.05),there was no significant difference between antibiotics + GOD group and GOD group(p>0.05);regarding villus height of jejunum,antibiotics + GOD group and GOD group were significantly different from control group(p<0.05),antibiotics group was higher than control group insignificantly(p>0.05);there was no significant difference in villus height of jejunum among four test groups(p>0.05).There was no significant difference in crypt depth of duodenum,jejunum,and ileum among all test groups(p>0.05).Regarding villus height/ crypt depth,antibiotics group,antibiotics + GOD group and GOD group were significantly higher than control group in duodenum(p<0.01),antibiotics + GOD group and GOD group were significantly higher than antibiotics group in duodenum(p<0.05);GOD group was significantly higher than control group in jejunum(p<0.05),and it was higher than other two groups insignificantly(p>0.05);there was no significant difference among all test groups in ileum(p>0.05).(4)T3,T4,growth hormone level of antibiotics + GOD group and GOD group were significantly higher than control group(p<0.05),but among antibiotics group and other groups,there was no significant difference(p>0.05).The superoxide dismutase activity of GOD group was significantly higher than control group(p<0.05),there was no significant difference among antibiotics group and other groups(p>0.05).There was no significant difference in glutathione peroxidase activity among all test groups(p>0.05),Malondialdehyde content level of GOD group was significantly lower than control group,antibiotics group and antibiotics + GOD group,Among these three groups,there was no significant difference in malondialdehyde content level(p>0.05).The results suggest that glucose oxidase can improve the growth performance of weaned piglets,reduce diarrhea rate,increase the number of lactic acid bacteria in ileum,reduce the number of E.coli,increase the duodenal and jejunum villi height and villus height / crypt depth,and increase T3,T4,growth hormone and superoxide dismutase SOD levels in serum,and reduce malondialdehyde MDA content;glucose oxidase and antibiotics in combination application on weaning piglets in anti-diarrhea has a better performance.
