Millet belongs to a traditionally dominate miscellaneous grain crop in china, which has high nutritional and medicinal value, with the branding and commercialization of millet industry, more and more people like it.At present, the millet harvesting is basically accomplished by manpower or semi-mechanization,resulting in high labor intensity, low efficiency and high loss in mechanized harvesting, which seriously restricting the comprehensive economic benefit and mechanization of millet industry.Millet ripens in green color with bending and sagging earheads, and the directionless growth of earheads results in intertwined earheads and stalks, which is difficult to divide,it is easy to suffer from serious loss on header caused by dropping of earheads?omitted harvest and pulling of dividing millet in the process of combined harvesting, and most of the existing millet harvesters are "refitting machines" for combined harvesting, which can not meet the needs of millet harvesting, therefore, the analysis and test on key parts of millet harvesters are the focus of research. This paper firstly conducted and tested the physical and mechanical properties of millet plants,on this basis, the overall structure of low-loss header was determined, the low-loss header of millet combine harvester was designed and the related experimental research was carried out.The main research contents are as follows:1)The physical and mechanical properties of millet plants were measured and studied, which provided basic theoretical data for the structure design of low-loss header of millet combine harvester.2)Based on the study of the physical and mechanical properties of millet plants, according to the harvesting conditions and conditions in the field, the working principle of the header was summarized. The reel speed, the relative installation position of reel and so on were given. The whole structure and main components of the low-loss header of millet combine harvester were designed3)Based on the problem of millet loss on header caused by the intertwined earheads and stalks which was difficult to divide, the divider of low-loss header was analyzed and designed, static analysis of millet plants was carried out by ANSYS software, using ANSYS/LS-DYNA software to simulate the dividing process between millet stalk and divider of the header, the stress deformation situation is obtained, and analyze the contacting force which was given to the millet in the stem by the way of the virtual orthogonal experiment,as to get structural parameters of the divider.4)Field harvesting experiments were carried out on the low-loss millet header: First of all, poking single-factor experiments and dividing single-factor experiments were conducted on the low-loss header to analyze the influences of each factor on the test index.Secondly, based on the single-factor test, the poking orthogonal experiments of four factors and four levels and dividing orthogonal experiments of three factors and three levels were conducted, the major factors of affecting performance indexes were obtained through range analysis of the orthogonal test, the optimum combination of parameters was determined by variance analysis of orthogonal test results. Finally,on the basis of orthogonal test, the quadratic orthogonal rotational combination test was carried out in the experiment of poking and the experiment of dividing to establish the mathematics between test index and test factor model, and the optimal combination of motion parameters was obtained. The experiment was carried out under the optimized parameter combination. The results showed that the poking loss rate and the dividing loss rate of the header met the performance index.
