With the market demand rising,commercialized substrates become the mainstream quietly.Compound substrates are widely used in large-scale nursery?factory producing and general gardening due to the convince.In current,the research on commercial compound substrates is relatively poor.Therefore,the paper is to study and value 6 different commercial compound substrates by comparing the character items,and use Brassica campestris L.ssp.chinensis Makino(also named red pak-choi ‘Ziyi')as the planting material to study the growth effects.And aim to study the commercial compound substrates deeply in its basic characters and growth effects.The main results showed as follows:1.The different between physical and chemical properties?nutrient status?microorganism content?mineral nutrition content are significant.Among them,the physical and chemical properties between domestic and imported substrates are more obvious.According to composite all the substrates character index and cluster analysis,J1 substrate(Zhongnuo brand organic substrate)is the best substrates among the 6 substrates,followed by J5 substrate(Cuiyun brand Liangtu gardening general substrate)? J6 substrate(Honghua brand general nutritious substrate)and J3 substrate(Alice brand granular substrate for flower and wild vegetable).2.The most relevant substrat character for ‘Ziyi' is total porosity,which could increase the root/shoot ratio.But the increasing aeration porosity will reduce the underground dry plant weight and incease the risk of nitrate-nitrogen concentration,indicating that the higher aeration porosity can effect ‘Ziyi' more and with the capillary porosity rising could improve its growth quality.Besides,the available nitrogen can improve ‘Ziyi's root activity and improve its growth quality.Available phosphorus content in J1 substrate is much higher to reduce the plant height.However,the available phosphorus can increase the sugar content.It shows that using available phosphorus in proper way can improve both ornamental value and food value.Available potassium can reduce ‘Ziyi's nitrate-nitrogen concentration and improve the food quality.3.The 6 different substrates can improve ‘Ziyi' in shape?biomass?physiological quality indexes obviously.Among them,the smaller eration /capillary porosity ratio or the more available nitrogen content,the more ‘Ziyi' leaf area,which can improve its ornamental value.The less bulk density and the less eration/capillary porosity ratio,the more water content in Makino and less nitrate-nitrogen content,which can improve its food value.4.Through AHP level analysis method on 6 different treatments,J2 treatment was the best in nutrition quality,while J2?J3?J4?J5 treatments are batter in ornamental value.J2 treatment has more score by comprehensive analysis which means it is the best substrate for ‘Ziyi' growth,followed by J3?J4?J5 substrates.J1 substrate get the lowest score and not suitable for ‘Ziyi' growth.
