With the deepening of the research on soil microstructure, more and more scholars are devoted to the simulation of soil numerical structure.Compared with the experiments on soil samples, numerical models can overcome the disadvantages of small sample size, large errors, and low efficiency. Many The related model of soil structure,Quartet structure generation set(QSGS)has been widely used to simulate soil physical and chemical properties, heat transfer properties or seepage properties, because the resulting structure is similar to the real structure of the soil. However, whether this model can truly reflect the pore structure characteristics of the actual soil, there is currently lack of experimental evidence and quantitative comparative analysis. To evaluate the potential of the QSGS model for simulating and characterizing the microscopic pore structure of soil, scanning electron microscopy(SEM)was used to prepare SEM images of six different porosity soil samples for quantitative comparison with the QSGS model. The digital image technique was used to analyze the morphological characteristics and distribution of the pores in the QSGS model and soil.Based on the measured data, the fractal dimension Dm and the surface fractal dimension Ds were estimated. The results show:(1)The distribution of pores in soil structure has obvious regularity, and the number of small pores is more. With the decrease of porosity, the pore size range is compressed, and the quality quantile increases gradually.(2)The microstructure of the QSGS algorithm is controlled by parameters such as porosity distribution probability of growth nuclei P_d,and growth probability P_i,among which P_d has more significant influence on pore structure. The QSGS model generated when P_d?0.01 has similar microscopic pore morphology and distribution rules with the actual soil,as well as the same fractal characteristics and similar fractal dimension values.(3)There is a significant linear regression relationship between Dm and P in the model. The smaller the porosity P is,the larger the Dm is,which is similar to the change trend of Dm in the real soil structure.(4)The more irregular the pore profile is,the larger the Ds is,the Ds distribution of each pore in the soil sample and the QSGS model conforms to the general normal distribution form. This paper compares the similarity of QSGS model and soil model in pore laws, reveals the influence of model parameters on the microstructure generated by the QSGS algorithm, provides a scientific basis for rational selection of parameters, and provides an evaluation of the suitability of other soil numerical models reference.
