This research of 13 introduced and optional superior varieties of sweet-potato vegetable are taken as experiment materials.The comparison experiment on the variety has been done in Hunan areas.The cold resistance and rapid propagation of sweet-potato vegetable have been studied to screen out the suitable variety of sweet-potato vegetable for Hunan areas.The following main conclusions have been reached:(1)The comparison experiment for 13 varieties of sweet-potato for two consecutive years has screened out 5 varieties that are suitable for being planted in Hunan areas.These five varieties are Ningcai 3,Fu shu18,Fu shu 10,Fu shu 7-6 and CH-2.These five varieties had higher ratooning ability of axillary buds,high yield of tips,good palatability,and they had strong resistance ability to black rot,ralstonia solanacearum and virus disease.(2)The yield in stem apex of sweet-potato vegetable is positively correlated with the thickness of tender stem and the petiole length,while negatively correlated with the length of tender stem apex and the pitch between stem apexes.Therefore,we believe that the growing situation feature of vegetable sweet potato with high yield is: The length of the tender stem tip ranged from 6.80 cm to 7.56 cm,the internodal length of the tender stem tip ranged from 1.43 cm to 1.97 cm,the petiole length ranged from 1.43 cm to 1.97 cm,the stem tip width ranged from 3.60 mm to 4.34 mm.(3)The sweet potato varieties with strong cold-resistance showed that,the POD activity was strong,lasting and increased rapidly,The decline of SOD activity and soluble protein content was relatively small,but SOD activity was high both under low-temperature stress.This may be one of the reasons for the strong cold resistance of vegetable sweet potatoes.(4)Peat soil is suitable as a substrate for rapid propagation of sweet potato seedlings.Ningcai 3 has the highest survival rate of rapid propagation.
