Lodging not only affects maize yield,but also is the main limiting factor of maize mechanized harvesting.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the problem of maize lodging for the development of maize production.The genetic characteristics of lodging resistance related traits were studied under the density of 60,000 plants/hm~2,75,000 plants/hm~2and 90,000 plants/hm2 using Reid population elite lines PH6WC,M03,KW9F591 and self-inbred lines J1495 and JD108 as female parents,and no-Reid population elite line PH4CV,self-inbred lines J9D207,J1673,J1668 and Iodent KW6F600 and DOM population M5972 as male parents.The results are as follows.1.Stem pulling force of self-inbred lines J1495,JD108 and elite inbred line KW9F59 1was good,while that of combination S1,S15 and S16 was good.Stem crushing strength of self-inbred line J1495,JD108,elite inbred lines PH6WC and PH4CV was good,and that of combination S4,S10 and S11 was good.The stem diameter of self-inbred line J1495 and elite inbred line M03 were better than that of combination S5,S10 and S28.The spike height coefficients of elite inbred lines M5972 and PH6WC were good,while those of combination S3,S5,S6,S10,S12,S13,S23,S24,S26 and S29 were good.2.Stem pulling force was positively correlated with stem crushing strength and stem diameter,negatively correlated with spike height coefficient and density;Stem crushing strength and stem diameter were negatively correlated with density;Spike height coefficient was positively correlated with density.3.Combining ability results showed that the general combining ability effect values of stem pulling force was positive between self-selected lines J1495,J1673 and elite inbred lines PH6WC and KW6F600,which had the potential to increase the stem pulling force;the special combining ability of stem pulling force was positive for combination S4,S11 and S15,which had the development potential.The general combining ability effect values of stem crushing strength was positive between self-selected lines J1495,J1673 and elite inbred lines PH6WC and KW6F600,which has the potential to enhance stem crushing strength;the special combining ability effect values of stem crushing strength was positive for combination S10,S11,S18 and S23,which has the development potential.The general combining ability effect values of stem diameter of self-selected lines JD108 elite inbred line PH4CV were positive,which had the potential to increase stem diameter.The general combining ability effect values of stem diamete were positive r for combination S1,S5,S10 and S24 and had the potential for development.The general combining ability effect values of spike height coefficient were negative between self-selected lines J1495,J1668,J1673 and elite inbred lines M03,KW9F591,PH6WC and M5972,which had the potential to reduce plant height and panicle position;the special combining ability effect values of spike height coefficient were negative for combination S3,S9,S11,S22 and S27,which had the development potential.The general combining ability effect values of individual yield were positive between self-selected lines JD108,J1673and elite inbred line PH6WC,which had the potential to increase yield.The special combining ability effect values of individual yield were positive for combination S1,S6,S13,S14 and S19,which had the potential for development.
