Abstract/Summary:
Objective:This experiment is studying the alteration of the general characteristics, the concentration of Butyric Acid in colon contents, and ITF in colon to reflect the function of Isomalto-oligosaccharide(IMO)which improving the concentration of Butyric Acid and ITF that are protective substances of mucous membrane of colon, protecting intestinal mucosal barrier to treat ulcerative colitis. The study plays a part in developing food assistance therapy in clinical treatment of ulcerative colitis.Methods:60 SD male rats were randomly divided into Normal Group,Model Group,Control Group(SASP),Treatment Group(IMO).In addition to the Normal group, the other three groups a free drink of 3%dextran sodium sulfate(DSS)solution for 7 days in rat model of ulcerative colitis.UC model is completed, four groups of rats continued to consume a normal diet and water, and the Treatment group of rats was given IMO Suspension 1 time/day by intragastric administration, the Control group of rats was given SASP Suspension 1 time/day by intragastric administration, the Model group of rats was given SALINE Suspension 1 time/day by intragastric administration By observing the animals to understand the general characteristics of the general situation in intestine of rats;Gas Chromatography(GC)method to test Butyric Acid content in colon of rats and ELISA method to test the content of ITF in colon.Result:1.Compared with the Normal Group, the Treatment Group average butyric acid content are significantly increased(P<0.01),and compared with the Model and Control Group,increased(P<0.05),all having statistical significance.2.The Model Group average butyric acid increased, compared with the Normal and Control Group(P<0.05),having statistical difference.3.Compared with the Normal,Model and Control Group, the Treatment Group ITF content increased significantly,(P<0.05),all having statistical significance.4.Compared with the Normal, the Model and Control Group ITF content reduced,(P<0.05),having statistical significance.5.Compared with the Model Group, the Control Group ITF content increased,(P>0.05),having no statistical difference. Conclusion:IMO can increase the intestinal mucous membrane barrier nutrition protection material—Butyric Acid and cell factors ITF in the colon of the experimental rats, and also can improve the general characteristics of UC rats. Therefore,IMO can contribute to UC rats colon repair, protect the intestinal mucosal barrier function, which plays a role in the treatment of ulcerative colitisr.
