Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic effect of combination of LC and Co Q10 supplementation on the men with idiopathic oligoasthenozoospermia(i OAT).Methods: A total of 262 infertile men with i OAT were randomly divided into four groups through computer-generated random numbers(Excel software):LC group,62 patients received L-carnitine solution,10 m L twice daily;Co Q10 group,63 patients received coenzyme Q10,20 mg three times daily;combination group,63 patients received a combination of LC and Co Q10 with above-mentioned dosage;control group,74 patients received vitamin B1 as placebo. The treatment lasted 3 months, then the sperm concentration, sperm motility, progressive sperm motility, sperm DNA fragment rate, sperm acrosome reaction rate, clinical pregnancy rate and miscarriage rate were compared among four groups. Results: A significant improvement of sperm motility and progressive sperm motility were observed in combination group(P < 0.05)compared with other three group, and sperm DNA fragment rate in combination group was significantly lower than control group(P < 0.05),clinical pregnancy rate in combination group was significantly higher than control group(30.0% vs.6.8%,P < 0.05).There were no significant differences in sperm acrosome reaction and miscarriage rate among the four groups(P > 0.05).Conclusion: Combination of LC and CoQ10 supplementation may improve semen parameters and clinical pregnancy rate for patients with i OAT.
