A Study On Sociocultural Adaptation And Management Countermeasures Of Indian International Students At Guangxi Medical University

Objective In recent years,with the continuous expansion of the scale of Indian students majoring at Guangxi Medical University,the educational management of Indian students is becoming increasingly prominent.This research aims to investigate current situations and existing problems in education and management of Indian students by conducting research on the educational management of Indian students at Guangxi Medical University.This study analyzes the educational management level and existing problems of Indian students at Guangxi Medical University,thus providing suggestions and strategies for the school to improve the educational management level of Indian students.It can also provide valuable reference for other medical universities to develop the market of international students and promote the internationalization of medical education.Methods This research mainly adopts the literature secondary method to collect the whole development course of the foreign students' education management in China from three levels: Guangxi Medical,Guangxi and University,China,respectively.To understand the current education and management situation of Indian students of Guangxi Medical University,a self-designed questionnaire was used to investigate the Indian students of Guangxi Medical University and the international education administrator of Guangxi Medical University.Furthermore,to analyze the existing problems in the educational management of Indian students at Guangxi Medical University,SWOT analysis was conducted.Finally,it puts forward the countermeasures and suggestions.Results and analysis 1.Results of a literature review 1.1 From 2004 to 2016,the total number of international students in China kept increasing with an average annual increase of 12.39%,and the number of Indian students in China increased with an average annual increase of 44.3%.The annual growth rate of the number of Indian students in China was significantly higher than that of international students in China.Above 90% of Indian students in China are diploma students,and 80% of them do degrees in Western medicine.1.2 The number of international students doing degrees in Western medicine in China has increased continually from 2004 to 2016.At present,the number of the international students majoring in western medicine ranks second among all international students in China,and ranks first among the diploma students.1.3 The number of international students in Guangxi is increasing rapidly.At present,the number of international students in Guangxi has exceeded 10,000,and Guangxi province has become one of the top 10 provinces accepting the highest number of international students.1.4 Indian students majoring in medicine have become the main body of international students at Guangxi Medical University,accounting for more than 50% of the total number of foreign students.2.Results of a questionnaire survey 2.1 The analyses of the Sociocultural Adaptation Scale showed that the average the sociocultural adaptation difficulty coefficient of the investigated students is 0.57,which indicates that the degree of the sociocultural adaptation difficulties among Indian students at Guangxi Medical University is a moderate degree of difficulty.2.2 The analyses of psychological adaptation showed that the psychological adaptation index of Indian students at Guangxi Medical University was 0.68,which indicated that Indian students at Guangxi Medical University have a good psychological adaptation.2.3 The analyses of the satisfaction of Indian students at Guangxi Medical University show that the average score of satisfaction is 3.31,which indicates that the satisfaction degree of teaching and learning environment of Indian students at Guangxi Medical University is satisfactory.2.4 The results of the questionnaire survey of Indian students' managers at Guangxi Medical University showed that the comprehensive evaluation of Indian students was general.Among all items surveyed,the satisfaction index of Indian students' style of study is the lowest.3.By using SWOT analysis combined with the results of literature investigation and questionnaire survey,this study analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of the internal factors in the educational management of Indian students majoring in Guangxi Medical University and the opportunities and challenges of the external environment,and forms the SWOT matrix.Furthermore,this study provides strategy of SO,WO,ST and WT of Indian students' educational management at Guangxi Medical University.Conclusions The number of Indian students at Guangxi Medical University has been increasing rapidly,and Indian students have become the main body of students studying in Guangxi Medical University.The problems of cross-cultural adaptation and management of Indian students in Guangxi Medical University have become increasingly prominent.Indian students in Guangxi Medical University have some difficulties in cross-cultural adaptation,mainly on the aspect of the sociocultural adaptation.The overall quality of Indian students in Guangxi Medical University needs to be improved,especially in the aspect of study style.The teaching level,the construction of teaching staff,teaching and learning environment and the educational management system of international students needs to be further improved in Guangxi Medical University.
