Objects:To ascertain the clinical significance of VEGF used for auxiliary diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis(RA)and the correlation between change of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)level and RA disease activity, the VEGF levels in serum of 80 RA patients were detected, and the analysis of correlation with RA disease activity was carried out. Methods:In accordance with the 2009 classification criteria of ACR,From November2015 to August 2017 in Department of Rheumatology,Shengjing Hospital, affiliated to China Medical University,80 patients with RA were selected, and they all had less than a year of treatment experience.30 health subjects in the same period were also selected as the healthy control group.According to the 28 joint disease activity score(DAS28)criteria and anti-CCP antibody positive or negative, the patients and health subjects were divided into six experimental groups:high disease activity group(DAS28>5.1),moderate disease activity group(3.2<DAS28?5.1),low disease activity group(DAS28?3.2),anti-CCP~+group,anti-CCP?group and normal control group. The VEGF levels were tested in serum of those groups with Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assays,The data were analyzed by student's t-test,single factor variance analysis and Pearson correlation analysis and P<0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results:The VEGF level of RA was significantly higher than healthy control group[(444.4±11.66)pg/ml vs(200.6±12.75)pg/ml,P<0.01];the VEGF level of high disease activity group, moderate disease activity group and low disease activity group, decreaseing gradually,were(527.5±16.19)pg/ml,(433.2±12.61)pg/ml and(326.4±6.225)pg/ml respectively, which were all notably higher than the normal control(P<0.01),and there was a significant difference in VEGF level between different disease activity groups(P<0.01).The VEGF level of anti CCP+group and anti CCP?group were(468.3±12.02)pg/ml and(332.2±15.06)pg/ml espectively, there was a significant difference between two groups(P<0.01),and both all were notably higher than normal control group(P<0.01);the VEGF level was positively correlated with the disease activity(r=0.594,P<0.01).Conclusion:VEGF level change is highly correlated with the disease activity, and has good consistency with DAS28 standard. It may be used as a ideal serum test indicator to determine the degree of activity of RA disease.
