Objctuve: The purpose of the study is to study the risk factors of anterior cruciate ligament combined with different types of lateral meniscus injury, and provide clinical treatment plan for such patients. Methods: The case data of anterior cruciate ligament combined with lateral meniscus injury collected from the department of orthopedic ward joint movement,Shengjing Hospital Affiliated to China Medical University, from 2015 to 2018.According to the observed lateral tear of the lateral meniscus, the patients were divided into three groups: no tear, mild tear, and severe tear.Tear conditions grouped by: No tearing, severe tearing Including: Root tearing, complete radial tearing, and unstable longitudinal tearing(including barrel tearing). The rest was mild tear.Univariate Analysis was used to analyze gender, age,BMI,type of injury and injury mechanisms in the three groups studied.Binary Loigistic Regression Multivariate Analysis was then performed to identify independent risk factors associated with lateral meniscal tear in the minor and severe types and to calculate odds ratio(OR).Results: A total of 430 patient data were collected,56% of whom were pure ACL injuries without the tear of the lateral meniscus,27% were mild meniscal tears, and 17% were severe meniscal tears.Univariate studies suggested significant differences in gender(P = 0.002),age(P <0.001),and injury mechanisms(P <0.001)among the three groups.Binary Loigistic Regression Multivariate Analysis Regression Shows compaering to the no tearing, the mechanism of contact injury is a risk factor for mild tearing of 3.417(95% CI,1.841-6.342)and severe tearing(OR,7.785 95% CI,3.775-16.055).Additional risk factors for severe tearing were men(OR,5.85;95% CI,1.71-19.94)and age <40 years(OR,16.084;95% CI,3.295-75.522).Conclusions: The contact injury mechanism is the only independent risk factor associated with mild lateral meniscal tears and an important risk factor for severe tears.Especially in men <40 years old patients, prone to severe tearing. Therefore, for such patients, early complete imaging examination should be providing,if necessary, supplying arthroscopy and repairing of meniscus tear in time.
