The Study On Smoking Status Of Students In Chongqing Medical Institute And Future Job Objective Involved In Smoking Control

Objective: understand the smoking status,characteristic and influence elements of students in Chongqing medical institute.Get to know their future job objective involved smoking control and influence elements.According to survey result,put forwards some targeted suggestions.Methods: chooses students in the Chongqing medical institute and College of medicine as the objective of study,adopts cluster random sampling according to gradation of 1,2,3 grades,among them,18 classes ae selected from medical institute,6 classes from each grade;12 classed are selected from College of medicine,4 classes from each grade.We use ?2 analysis,Logistic regression model,and other statistics to analyze the data.Result:Effective response rate is 99.37%(1888/1900),among them the boys are 447,girls 1441;1201 students out of medical institute,687 students out of college of medicine.Smoking rate of investigated group is 6.52%,students who are opt to work on smoking control take up 41.26%.The result of single factor analysis shows that smoking rate of students increases with the progress of grade;it is of statistical significance for the students in different majors have different smoking rate,students from public hygiene have higher smoking rate than those from clinical care,nursing and other majors;in recent one year,the students who took part in public benefit activities have lower smoking rate than those who did not;the smoking rate is rising with the different achievements of students.While the difference of smoking rate between two genders,medical institute and college of medicine is of no statistical significance.From the multiple Logistic regression analysis,students in medical institute tend to work on smoking control in future,the main five influence factors are: whether have interest in quitting smoking,whether agree that the doctor practice giving smoking in daily diagnosis and treatment,major,whether join in smoking quitting activities,whether they are smoking.Conclusion: students in medical institute are the medical practitioners in the future,playing an important role in preventing and controlling cigarettes and tobacco.On one hand,medical institute should make efforts to promote smoking control,hold more smoking control social practice activities,reinforce the students the cognition of “smoking is harmful for our health” and social responsibility;on the other hand,medical institute not only opens smoking control mandatory courses to the students of public hygiene major,but also opens mandatory or optimal courses to those from other majors.
