| Background and Objective: When the dermal reticular layer of the skin is damaged, the healing is accompanied by scar formation.Especially when the wound direction is not parallel to the dermatoglyph line, the scar may be more obvious. There are many treatments for skin scar, such as surgery, lasers, drugs, and so on.However,it’s more important in preventing scar formation in the early stages. It has been proved that there are many ways to prevent scar formation effectively. The purpose of this study is to observe the effectiveness and safety of nonablative fractional laser combined with intense pulsed light in the early prevention of scar formation when the facial wound direction is not parallel to the dermatoglyph line in Asians. Methods: In our hospital,twenty-two patients(Fitzpatrick skin types III and IV),the wound direction is not parallel to the dermatoglyph line, were slected as the study object. All patients received up to treatments of combined nonablative fractional laser Lux 1540 nm with a 10-mm handpiece and intense pulsed light equipped with a LuxG handpiece. The first treatment was performed 10 to 15 days after the wound was taken out stitches.Clinical assessment was performed by two independent physicians by comparing the digital pictures taken before and three months after the last treatment. And patients evaluate the treatment effect during follow-up at the same time. Results: All patients completed the course of laser treatment. After a course of treatment, the SCAR score was 2.68± 0.89,which was significantly lower than the pre-treatment score(7.73±1.32),and the different is statistically significant(P<0.5).In 12 cases, the score was 0.92 ± 0.67 after two courses of treatment, which was significantly lower than a course of treatment(3.00 ± 0.74).And the total effective rate was 100%:fifteen cases showed good effect, five cases were good and 2 cases were effective.Meanwhile all the patients showed satisfaction in self-evaluation of patient satisfaction after the finial treatment. At the end of the treatment all the patients may have a transient burning sensation, skin redness and edema. The sympotom decreased after local ica compress 30 minutes.During the three months follow-up,there is no patient appeared side effect, such as blister, crusting and perpigmentation. Conclusion: when the wound direction is not parallel to the dermatoglyph line, the use of nonablatibe fractional laser combined with intense pulsed light was shown to be effective and safe for preventing facial scars. It is worthy of clinical application. |
