Objective:To observe the effect of glycosylated hemoglobin level(HbA1c)on the retinal thickness of patients after cataract surgery with non-insulin-dependent diabetes patients and to analyze its clinical value. Methods:Selected 105 patients with phacoemulsification and cataract surgery from November 2016 to August 2017,were divided into control group(35patients with 40eyes),According to the HbA1 c levels, diabetic group was divided into high Hb A1 c group(HbA1c>7.0%)and low HbA1 c group(HbA1c?7.0%).The total macular volume, central retinal thickness and the thickness of the retinal nerve fiber layer around the optic disc were observed before and at 3day,1mon,2mon,and 3mon after the cataract operat ion in the three groups, and the data collected were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 statistical software Results:At 1months,2months and 3months after cataract surgery, the macular retinal thickness and total volume in the high HbA1 c group were significantly higher than those in the low HbA1 c group and the control group(P<0.05).The indexes before and after cataract surgery in the three groups, the difference was statistically significant between 1months,2 months and 3 months after cataract surgery in high HbA1c(P<0.05).The retinal nerve fiber layer thickness around the optic disc in diabetic group was litter thinner than that in the control group at preoperative(P<0.05),at 1months,2months,3months after cataract surgery, the above indexes in the high HbA1 c group were significantly higher than those of low HbA1 c group and the control group(P<0.05).The HbA1 c levels were positively correlated with macular area average retinal thickness before surgery and 3 days,1months,2months,3months after cataract surgery, the HbA1 c level were negatively correlated with average RNFL thickness around the optic disc before cataract surgery and the HbA1 c level and average RNFL thickness around the optic disc were positively correlated at 1months,2months and 3months after cataract operation.Conclusion:HbA1c is positively related to macular thickness and volume after cataract surgery, and it can be used to monitor the development of macular edema after cataract surgery.Preoperative HbA1 c is higher than 7%,intervention measures should be taken to protect visual function.HbA1 c is positively related to the RNFL thickness around the optic disc after cataract surgery,it can be used to evaluate the optic nerve damage after cataract surgery. When HbA1 c is higher than 7%,prophylactic measures should be taken to protect the optic nerve.
