ObjectiveIn this study, patients with menstrual migraine without aura(MMOA)were studied,by comparing the difference of clinical efficacy between acupoint group and non-acupoint group before and after acupuncture treatment, the clinical efficacy and safety of acupuncture treatment of MMOA were observed. At the same time,by observing the change of plasma sex hormone levels before and after acupuncture treatment, the regulatory mechanism of acupuncture treatment on sex hormone levels in MMOA patients was preliminary explored, which provided further guidance to clinical treatment.MethodsIn this study,80 patients with MMOA were randomly divided into acupoint treatment group and non-acupoint control group by SAS software. The acupoint group was treated with GB8,GB20,PC6,SP6,LR3 as acupoints, while the non-acupoint group was prescribed with five non-acupoints in the extremities.A total of 27 acupuncture treatments were performed.Headache Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)scores, frequency of head onset, headache duration, headache intensity, etc.were recorded in the two groups at 0,4,8 and 12 weeks. The Migraine-Specific Questionnaire(MSQ)score was recorded at 0 and 12 weeks of treatment. And detect plasma sex hormones levels of patients before and after acupuncture treatment.Complete the following analysis:(1)The clinical efficacy and safety of acupuncture treatment of MMOA were compared between acupuncture treatment at 0 week,4 week,8 week,12 week to evaluate clinical efficacy and safety of acupuncture treatment of MMOA.(2)To compare the changes of plasma sex hormone levels before and after acupuncture treatment and observe the effect of acupuncture on plasma sex hormones in patients with MMOA.Results1 Acupuncture treatment of MMOA clinical efficacy evaluation.(1)The acupoint group and the non-acupoint group are comparatively balanced and comparable in demographic data, vital signs, and disease-related data(P>0.05).(2)In acupoint group, the differences in headache VAS scores, frequency of head onset, headache duration, and headache intensity at the time of treatment of 4 weeks,8 weeks of treatment,12 weeks of treatment were statistically significant(P*<0.05).The scores of the three areas of the MSQ scale after treatment were significantly different from those before the treatment(P<0.05).(3)In the non-acupoint group, the headache VAS scores at the 4th,8th,and 12th weeks of follow-up had statistically significant differences(P*<0.05).There was no significant difference in the frequency of head onset, headache duration, and headache intensity at 4 weeks,8 weeks,12 weeks(P*>0.05).MSQ functional inability scores after acupuncture treatment were significantly different from those before acupuncture treatment(P<0.05),There was no significant difference in MSQ functional deficiency scores,MSQ emotional deficiency scores(P>0.05).(4)There was a significant difference in the headache VAS scores and headache intensity between the acupoint group and the non-acupoint group at 4 weeks of treatment(P<0.05).After treatment, there were significant differences between the two groups in MSQ functional deficiency scores and MSQ functional inability scores(P<0.05).2 Changes of plasma sex hormones levels before and after acupuncture(1)The acupoint group and the non-acupoint group are comparatively balanced and comparable in baseline plasma sex hormones levels(E2、FSH、LH)(P>0.05).(2)Compared with before acupuncture treatment, plasma E2 levels increased after acupuncture in both groups. In acupoint group, there was no significant difference in plasma E2 levels(P>0.05).In non-acupoint groupthere was no significant difference in plasma E2 levels(P>0.05).There was no statistical difference in plasma E2 levels between groups after acupuncture(P>0.05).(3)In acupoint group, there was no significant difference in plasma FSH and LH before and after acupuncture treatment(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in plasma FSH and LH after acupuncture treatment in non-acupoint group(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in plasma FSH and LH between acupoint group and non-acupoint group after acupuncture(P>0.05).3 Analysis of the correlation between plasma E2 level and headache VAS scoreThere is no linear correlation between the headache VAS scores difference and the plasma E2 concentration difference before and after treatment of the acupoint group(r=-0.214,P=0.284).There is no linear correlation between the headache VAS scores difference and the plasma E2 concentration difference before and after treatment of the non-acupoint group(r=-0.093,P=0.689).Conclusions1 Acupuncture points can reduce the headache VAS scores, reduce the frequency of head onset, shorten the duration of headache, reduce headache intensity, and improve the quality of life of patients with MMOA.At 4 weeks of acupuncture, acupuncture at the acupoints was significantly better than the non-acupoint group in reducing the headache VAS scores and headache intensity. The acupuncture point has a quick onset time and can significantly relieve the headache symptoms in the treatment for 4weeks.2 Acupuncture at the acupoints has a tendency to increase plasma E2 levels in patients, and has no significant effect on plasma FSH and LH.3 Acupuncture at acupoints has a tendency to increase plasma E2 levels and reduce headache VAS scores, but there is no correlation between changes in E2 levels and decreases in VAS scores.4.Acupuncture treatment of MMOA have good compliance, security and reliability.
