Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)is a highly prevalent disease of the digestive system. With change of diet and lifestyle and increased mental stress, the incidence of IBS has a rising trend with each passing year. The high medical expenses caused by IBS lead to a serious decline in the quality of life of patients with IBS.Even though current studies have shown that multiple factors such as gastrointestinal dysmotility, visceral hypersensitivity, disorders of gut-brain interaction, intestinal flora, food intolerance, bile acid malabsorption, genetic polymorphism and sex hormones may be both involved in the occurrence and development of IBS,of which the pathogenesis has not been clarified hitherto, further studies are needed to elucidate the interactions between these factors in the future. |
