Objective: This study was designed to analyze the effect of peer VCT on knowledge and risk behaviors of students and the influencing factor to popularize peer VCT among college students in Guangzhou.Then explore the acceptability,applicability and effectiveness of peer VCT services and to provide scientific evidence for optimization and popularize of peer VCT.Methods: Participants was recruited through the WeChat public platform and the various cooperative university associations.The baseline survey and 6-month follow-up survey were conducted on the users of peer VCT.The questionnaire included demographic characteristics,AIDSrelated knowledge and policies,behavioral characteristics,drug use and service satisfaction,etc.The basic characteristics and behavioral characteristics of peer VCT service seekers were described by frequency and percentage,and Chi-square test was used to compare knowledge and behavior change of students before and after intervention.Then analysis and evaluation validity and applicability of the peer VCT.A study was conducted among 12 colleges in Guangzhou by convenient sampling method.The questionnaire included demographic characteristics,understanding of student epidemics,sexual attitudes,characteristics of sexual behavior,VCT awareness and acceptance attitude toward peer VCT.Mutinomial Logistic regression were adopted to identify independent correlates to explore the factors that contributed to the promote the application of peer VCT.SPSS 20.0 was used to clear and analyze date.Results:1.Evaluation of the service model effect: Peer VCT collected168 valid questionnaires,of whom,one was HIV positive.(1)Demography and behavioral characteristics of service model users: The ratio of male to female was 2.4:1.The average age was 21 years old.Of the 168 participants,homosexuality accounted for 34.5%.The awareness rate of AIDS knowledge was 89.9%(151/168).In the past year,57.7%(97/168)of them had heterosexual sex.The incidence of casual sexual intercourse was 28.0%(47/168).55.5%(66/119)of them ever had anal intercourse.30.3%(36/119)had casual partners in the past six months.13 students used rush poppers in the past six months.(2)The impact of service patterns on users: Through the intervention,the awareness rate of AIDS policy had increased 31.6%.In the past year,the incidence of heterosexual sex and the proportion of multiple partners had decreased by 17.4% and 25.3%.The proportion of anal sex multiple partners decreased by 16.9%.The incidence of casual sexual intercourse and the use rate of rush poppers were all decreased.More than 20 percent of students reduced heterosexual sex and sexual partners.More than 30 percent reduced the number of anal sex partners and more than10 percent increased condom use.(3)The satisfaction with service model: The satisfaction of the VCT service appointment procedure,testing procedures,privacy protection,and counselors were all above 90%.More than 90% of students consider that learning more about AIDS after counselling and reducing fear.More than 90% of students said they will regularly testing and continue to choose peer VCT.2.Analysis of influence factors of service model popularization and application: 3,709 students from 12 colleges were investigated.(1)The basic situation of the objects: The male to female ratio was 0.87:1,the average age was 19 years old,and 2.9% were homosexual.The awareness rates of AIDS and the "four-one-one care" policy were 81.3% and 22.2% respectively.The incidence of sexual behavior was 14.5%(446/3079),of which the incidence of anal sex was 3.7%(53/1429).And the incidence of casual behavior in the past year was 3.9%(120/3079).(2)Influencing factors: About 90.8%(2,795)would like to accept peer VCT when in need of VCT.According to regression analysis,compared to attitude of accepting peer VCT and not accepting to VCT,female students(vs male,aOR=1.55,95%CI:1.18~2.05),ever accepting peer education(vs not accepting,aOR=2.00,95%CI:1.51~2.67),worrying about being infected with HIV(vs not worring,aOR=1.34,95%CI:1.02~1.76)tended to be accepting.Conclusion: Through student peer VCT intervention,multiple sexual partners and casual sex intercourse changed,but the use rate of condoms does not change significantly.The peer VCT model provided a convenient testing service to young students,and this model is high acceptable among students especially female students who concern health.Young students risk behavior occurrence rate is high,and we need to explore effective behavioral interventions,combining with innovations and multiple forms education to promote health,and curb the spread of AIDS.
