Abstract/Summary:
ObjectiveRetrospective comparative analysis was applied to images of 293 patients who underwent head MRI and CTA examinations successively,to investigate imaging correlation between intracranial internal carotid artery calcification(I-ICAC)and white matter hyperintensities(WMH);Retrospective comparative analysis was applied to images of 263 patients who underwent head MRI and CTA examinations successively,to investigate imaging correlation between intracranial internal carotid artery calcification(I-ICAC)and lacunar infarction(LI).MethodsRetrospective comparative analysis was applied to images of 293 patients who underwent head MRI and CTA examinations successively.According to the I-ICAC scores, patients were divided into no to mild I-ICAC group(≤2scores)and moderate to severe I-ICAC group(≥3scores).The patients were divided into no to mild WMH group(≤1score)and moderate to severe WMH group(≥2scores),according to the Fezakas scale;Retrospective comparative analysis was applied to images of 263 patients who underwent head MRI and CTA examinations successively.According to the I-ICAC scores, patients were divided into no to mild I-ICAC group(≤2scores)and moderate to severe I-ICAC group(≥3scores).According to the number of LI,The patients were divided into no to mild LI group(≤3)and moderate to severe LI group(≥4).Results(1)The differences in age, hypertension, and I-ICAC in no to mild WMH group and moderate to severe WMH group were statistically significant(P<0.05).(2)Age,hypertension and I-ICAC were risk factors for WMH.(3)In the elderly group(≥68 years),I-ICAC(mild I-ICAC:OR=2.307,95%CI 1.066~4.992,moderate to severe I-ICAC:OR=1.994,95%CI 1.075~3.698)was independent risk factor for moderate to severe WMH(P<0.05)after adjusting for age, hypertension and other risk factors.(4)The differences in age, hypertension, and I-ICAC in different LI groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).(5)I-ICAC(OR=1.135,95%CI 1.012~1.273))and hypertension were independent risk factors for LI.Conclusion(1)I-ICAC has significant correlation with WMH.(2)I-ICAC was an independent risk factor for WMH in elderly patients, and a predictor for the severity of WMH.(3)I-ICAC has significant correlation with LI.(4)I-ICAC was an independent risk factor for LI,and a predictor for the number of LI.
