Objective:To investigate the relationship between red cell distribution width(RDW)and left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH)in peritoneal dialysis(PD)patients. Methods:A retrospective analysis was performed on 123 PD patients admitted in kidney internal medicine of The first hospital of shanxi medical university from January 2016 to January 2017.The biochemical indexes, blood routine index and echocardiography were detected, and Patients were stratified into groups with and without LVH according to the left ventricle mass index(LVMI).Using Statistical package for Social Sciences(SPSS20.0)for statistical description and analysis of the above data.Analysis the relationship between RDW and LVH in PD patients. Results:Systolic pressure, white blood cell count,RDW level,Uric Acid,CRP,and LVEDd were significantly higher in PD patients with LVH than in patients without LVH,The hemoglobin, serum albumin,LVEF in LVH group is significantly lower than that in without LVH group, there was significant difference between two groups(P <0.05).Spearman correlation analysis showed that with hypertension, systolic pressure, white blood cell count,RDW,Uric Acid,CRP was positively associated with LVMI and hemoglobin, serum albumin,LVEF negatively correlated with LVMI.Logistic analysis showed that RDW was an important independent risk factor for LVH in PDpatients after adjusted for systolic pressure, hemoglobin,RDW,CRP,serum albumin. Conclusion:RDW was significantly associated with LVMI,Given that RDW is a readily available hematological parameter without the need for additional cost,we suggest that RDW could be an additive predictor for LVH in patients on PD beyond a diagnosis of anemia.
