Objective This article aimed to analyse the epidemic situation of behavioral and metabolic risk factors, and patterns of risk factors and its influential factors. And we attempted to put forward the priority issue and target population for the intervention of chronic diseases in Guangdong Province, then to provide scientific basis for the development of prevention and control strategies for chronic diseases.Materials and Methods The method of multi-stage stratified clustering sampling was used to investigate chronic diseases and their risk factors in adult residents who lived in the area for more than 6 months from 14 disease surveillance points in Guangdong Province. The complex weighted computation was used to describe the distribution of social demographic characteristics, main lifestyle behaviors, and metabolic components in the study population. This study performed latent class model to identify patterns of lifestyle behaviors and metabolic based on the five main behaviors and seven metabolic components. For the comparison between categorical variables and single factor analysis,a Rao-Scott chi-square test based on sample design correction was used.Multinomial Logistic model under complex sampling was used to multiple factors analysis of lifestyle behavior and metabolic patterns.Results(1)After a complex weighted estimate, the prevalence of current smoking in Guangdong Province was 25.3%,the 50-59 age group now had a higher smoking rate, males was higher than that of females. The prevalence of excessive drinking was 4.9%,the excessive drinking rate in the 40-59 age group was higher, and males was higher than females. The prevalence of regular exercise was 26.5%,the regular exercise rate in the18-39 age group was higher, males was higher than females, and urban residents was higher than rural. The prevalence of sufficient vegetable intake was 66.2%,age group of over 70 years was relatively low.The prevalence of sufficient fruit intake was 11.3%,the intake rate of sufficient fruit in rural residents of 40-59 years old was lower.(2)Three patterns of lifestyle behavior were identified in Guangdong Province: "healthy behavioral","lack of physical exercise and fruit",and "unhealthy behavioral",accounting for 3.3%,71.4%,and 25.3%respectively.Analysis of factors affecting lifestyle behavior patterns showed that male,70 years old and above, residing in the rural, poorly educated, unemployed were the risk factors for "lack of physical exercise and fruit".Besides male, residing in the rural, poorly educated, married /cohabiting and widowed were the risk factors for "unhealthy behavioral".(3)The prevalence of overweight/obesity in Guangdong Province was26.3%,the rate was higher in 40-59 age group. The prevalence of hypertension was 19.5%,and which was increased with age, urban residents was lower than rural residents. The prevalence of hyperglycemia was 27.4%,and which was increased with age, males was higher than females. The prevalence of dyslipidemia was 26.5%,there was no significant difference among different age groups, gender and areas.(4)Four patterns of metabolic were identified in Guangdong Province: "Relative healthy metabolic","dyslipidemia-oriented","hyperglycemiaoriented" and "hypertension-oriented",accounting for 66.5%,15.8%,7.8%,and 10.0% respectively. The analysis of factors affecting metabolic patterns showed that younger, retired, unhealthy lifestyle behavior were the risk factors for "dyslipidemia-oriented".Poorly educated, retired were the risk factors for "hyperglycemia-oriented".Male,70 years old and above,divorce/separation,poorly educated, retired were the risk factors for "hypertension-oriented".Conclusion Insufficient fruit intake was a prominent health problem of diet in Guangdong Province, especially for middle-aged rural residents.Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption were more serious in middle-aged males. At the same time, the lack of exercise among female, the elderly, rural residents, and insufficient vegetable intake in the age of70 were considered particularly noteworthy. The general situation of lifestyle behaviors in Guangdong Province was terrible, only a few residents keep their lifestyle healthy. It is important to strengthen the work of health education and publicity for male, rural and lower educated residents.Overweight/obesity was a serious problem among middle-aged people. The problem of hypertension in elderly, rural female, and the hyperglycemia in elderly, urban male were not idealistic. In Guangdong Province, the metabolic problems of "dyslipidemia-oriented" was more serious, followed by "hypertension-oriented" and "hyperglycemiaoriented".Active prevention of overweight/obesity was the primary link in controlling metabolic risk factors.Residents with lower socioeconomic status were the key targets for the prevention and control of metabolic risk factors. The departments should pay attention to the early screening of metabolic abnormalities in this population and combine with the health promotion strategy of healthy lifestyle. This study made full use of the technical advantages of latent variable model in identified lifestyle behavior and metabolic patterns in Guangdong residents, and have provided theoretical basis for determine the key population and early detection of disease for targeted intervention.
