Sambucus chinensis Lindl is a kind of traditional Chinese medicine, which was widely used for a long time. With the pharmacological actions, such as clearing and activating the channels and collaterals, removing blood stasis and swelling, promoting bone growth, it was used frequently to cure traumatic injury and acute bone injury. More and more pharmacological actions like the effects of anticoagulant, analgesic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory were brought to light by researchers' hard work year after year. Besides, for a long time, people thought that the effective parts of this medicine are roots, stems and leaves.In fact, several experiments shown that its flowers and fruits had pharmacological activity as well, unfortunately, no research of flowers and fruits had been reported yet. This paper will do some work to explore in chemical constituents from different medical parts of Sambucus chinensis Lindl, and provide the theoretic foundation for producing Chinese patent medicine and other products using Sambucus chinensis Lindl as starting materials.The ethyl acetate part of alcohol extract of flowers and leaves from Sambucus chinensis Lindl were chose as research objects. Dried materials were extracted by heating reflux with alcohol for three times. The extracts were mixed with distilled water and then extracted by different isometric organic solvents. At last,they were divided into the petroleum ether part,the acetic ether part, the n-butyl alcohol part and the water part. The compounds were isolated by silica gel, sephadex LH-20, ODS column chromatograph and TLC. The structures of compounds were identified on the basis of spectral evidence, including NMR, ESI-MS.Eleven compounds were obtained from Sambucus chinensis Lindl. Seven molecular structures of those were identified as: ursolic acid(1), oleanic acid(2), kaempferol3-O-?-Dglucoside(3), p-Hydroxybenzoic acid(4), eugenyl-O-?-D-glucopyranoside(5), daucosterol(6), salsolinol(7). Compound 4 was isolated from Sambucus chinensis Lindl for the first time.Compound 5 was isolated from genus Sambucus for the first time. Compound 7 was isolated from Caprifoliaceae for the first time. Other chemical compounds structure and the antibacterial activities of compounds will be determined in the next step.
