Tea is one of the most consumed beverages worldwide.Many bioactive components of tea were shown to exhibit health benefits via the regulation of gene expressions or protein activities.However,a complete picture of the interactions between tea bioactive compounds(TBCs)and their target genes is lacking,which limit the research of healthy mechanisms of tea.To provide a publically available resource to address this issue,three jobs are finished by us as follows:(1)Based on pharmacophore,6,226 interaction relationships between 240 TBCs and 673 target genes were caculated.Using the TBC-target associations,we constructed a bipartite network and provided users the corresponding network(or sub-network)visualization and topological analyses.To further topological analysis of the network,several typical parameters,such as degree,betweenness,radiality and neighborhood,were computed for a TBC or a gene using the Cytoscape plugin NetworkAnalyzer.(2)To provide a publically available resource to address this issue,we developed a database of TBC target genes based on a computational prediction(TBC2target,http://camellia.ahau.edu.cn/TBC2target).In TBC2target,6,226 interaction relationships between 240 TBCs and 673 target genes were documented.TBC2target contains comprehensive information about each interaction entry,such as TBC,CAS number,PubChem CID,source of compound(e.g.green,oolong),compound type,target genes of TBC,gene symbol,gene ID,PDB ID,TBC bioactivity and the reference.The entire database is free for online browsing,searching and downloading.TBC2target also provides a BLAST search function to facilitate use of the database.The particular strengths of TBC2target are the inclusion of the comprehensive TBC-target interactions,and the capacity to visualize and analyze the interacting networks,which may help uncovering the beneficial effects of tea on human health as a central resource in tea health community.
