Changes Of Choroidal Thickness In Macular Area After Vitrectomy With Idiopathic Macular Epiretinal Membrane

Objective: To investigate the change of choroidal thickness in the macular region after vitrectomy in patients with idiopathic macular epiretinal membrane in the coastal areas of northern China using deep-enhanced optical coherence tomography.Methods: 40 patients(eyes)who were diagnosed with idiopathic macular epiretinal membrane(IMEM)in our hospital from October 2016 to October 2017 were involved in this study.Deep-enhanced optical coherence tomography(E DI-OCT)was used to measure macular subfoveal choroidal thickness(SFCT),c horoidal thickness 1000?m from nasal side central of fovea(NFCT1)and choro idal thickness at 1000?m from temporal side central of fovea(TFCT1)at preop erative and 1 week,1 month,3 month and 6 month after surgery.The indepen dent sample t-test was used to compare the difference of preoperative SFCT,N FCT1 and TFCT1 in the affected eye and the fellow eye.The univariate analy sisof variance(ANOVA)was used to compare the SFCT,NFCT1 and TFCT1 among preoperative and 1 week,1 month,3 month and 6 month after surgery in the affected eyes.Results: The SFCT,NFCT1 and TFCT1 were significantly thinner at 3 m onth than the preoperative,1 week and 1 month after surgery in the affected e ye(P<0.05).There was no significant difference between 3 month and 6 mont h after the surgery in the affected eye(P>0.05).There was no significant differ ence in SFCT,NFCT1 and TFCT1 between the healthy eyes and the preoperat ive affected eyes.There was no significant difference in the SFCT,NFCT1 an d TFCT1 at 1 week,1 month between the preoperative and postoperative of th e affected eyes(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in the SFCT,NFC T1 or TFCT1 at 3 month and 6 month between the preoperative and postopera tive(P>0.05).Conclusions: There was no significant change in macular choroidal thickness of patients with idiopathic macular epiretinal membrane compared with healthy eyes.The choroidal thickness in macular region was significantly thinner 3 month after surgery.The choroidal thickness remained relatively stable until 6 months after surgery.
