Purpose to investigate the effect of the retinal nerve fiber layer(retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL))on the visual function of non proliferative diabetic retinopathy(Non proliferative diabetic retinopathy(NPDR)).Methods From January to December of 2016,50 patients with diabetes were selected and divided into non-retinopathy group(NDR)27 cases(42 eyes)and non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy group(NPDR)23 according to whether or not retinopathy occurred.Cases(40 eyes);20 cases(40 eyes)normal physical examination were selected as a control group. The RNFL measurements, visual field, best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),PERG-P50 wave amplitude, and latency values were compared among the groups of patients. The changes in RNFL thickness between different stages of diabetic retinopathy and changes in visual function were analyzed.Correlation.Results 1.The comparison of the RNFL measured value of the upper, the nasal side, the lower, and the average quadrant: the control group> NDR group> NPDR group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in temporal RNFL measurement between the two groups(P>0.05).2.The visual field of three groups of patients were compared, the percentage of patients with abnormal visual field in three groups compared to the control group <NDR group <NPDR group, the control group patients with the best visual field,NPDR group was the worst, the difference was statistically significant,(P<0.05).3.The wave amplitudes of BCVA and PERG-P50 in the three groups were: control group> NDR group> NPDR group.PERG-P50 wave latency comparison was: control group <NDR group <NPDR group, the contrast difference was obvious.P<0.05).4.Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between RNFL thickness measurement and visual function.(P <0.05).The thickness of RNFL was higher than PERG-P50 wave amplitude and latency.(P<0.05).The more obvious visual functionchanges, the more severe visual impairment(P<0.05).There was no significant correlation between temporal RNFL and visual function(P>0.05).Conclusion 1.RNFL thinning occurs in patients with DR,RNFL thinning is more obvious with the aggravating illness.RNFL and average RNFL of upper quadrant, upper quadrant, and lower quadrant of NPDR are significantly thinned during NPDR;2.Patients with DR had impaired visual function and increased impairment of function as the disease progressed.BCVA and PERG-P50 in patients with NPDR significantly decreased during NPDR.Abnormal rise in the field of vision,PERG-P50 wave latency The value will be prolonged;3.The change of RNFL in patients with NPDR is closely related to the visual function. The more abnormal the thinning of RNFL,the more severe the impairment of visual function.
