Aims:The Chinese are the main group of liver cancer patients. The annual incidence and mortality of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)in China is more than 50% of that in the world, and is still increasing.HCC occurs quietly without significant symptom in its earlier stage, with lower resection rate and higher recurrence and metastasis rate postoperatively. Therefore, the prognosis of HCC is very poor. The main purpose of this study is to discover the new serum biomarker to earlier detect or predict the recurrence of HCC.There are 2 probable risk factors were meta analyzed, including AFP-L3,DCP for their role in HCC recurrence prediction. We hope the results from our study can provide the evidence-based guidance for clinical decision.Materials and Methods:The major databases of Pubmed,Cochrane library,Web of Science,Embase,CNKI,VIP database,CBM and so on were searched for terms of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),recurrence,prognosis,AFP-L3,DCP.There were 29 literatures with 7471 cases enclosed thatwere eventually selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. There were 13 papers regarding AFP-L3 and 16 regarding DCP.The data extracted from these literatures were analyzed by Stata 14.0 as for statistics consolidation. Results:The effects of these two tumor makers on the recurrence of HCC were analyzed by meta-analysis.Pooled hazard ratios and their 95% confidence intervals therefore can be calculated out as follows: AFP-L3 and DCP as risk factors for HCC recurrence HR=2.644,[1.983,3.525],(P 0.001);HR=1.610,[1.352,1.918],(P 0.001).Conclusion:AFP-L3 and DCP are both risk factors for the recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma after radical therapy.
