Objective:To summarize the clinical features of children with Ewing's sarcoma family of tumor(ESFT),to study the prognostic factors in those children, and to compare the clinical characteristics and long-term survival of patients with Ewing's sarcoma(ES)and extraskeletal Ewing's sarcoma(EES).Methods:Sixty-two pediatric patients with ESFT from Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital between January 2005 and December 2014 were recruited in this retrospective study. The clinical features, treatment pattern and survival status of the patients were reviewed and the valid information were analyzed by applying SPSS 24 software. The inter group classification variables were compared by?~2 test or Fisher accurate test, and the inter group continuous variables were tested by student‘s t test.Survival analysis was performed by Kaplan-Meier analysis with Log-rank test.P<0.05 was statistically significant. Results:During the median follow-up period of 48.1 months,no treatment-related deaths and serious organ damage were identified. The total five-year overall survival and five-year event-free survival in the whole group were 65.5%and 59.5%,respectively.Clinical stage(P=0.006)and pathological subtype(P=0.024)were the independent prognostic factors. There was no significant difference in the long-term survival between the"planned excision group"and the unplanned excision group"of the non-metastatic patients(P=0.622).Conclusions:The prognosis of children in group of EES is more satisfactory than that in ES group.Metastasis and recurrence are the adverse factors affecting the survival status of children. The initial unplanned resection of tumor did not impair the long-term survival of children with localised ESFT.
