Esophageal cancer has been at the forefront of most common malignancies in China for many years, and the morbidity and mortality remains high, which threatens the health and safety of people in our country seriously.Esophagogastric anastomotic leak is not only one of the most common complications after Esophagectomy, but also with extremely serious consequences. If it is not discovered early or handled properly,it may cause postoperative death;the causes and performances of postoperative anastomotic leakage are not identical, and the corresponding treatment measures should be made in accordance with specific conditions.Systemic, local, and technical factors may contribute to the cause of leaks following esophagectomy with esophagectomy. What kind of treatment should be used for patients with anastomotic leakage, whether to perform secondary surgery, and whether to place esophageal stents? These are questions that are worthy of Thoracic Surgeons’ consideration. This article summarizes the relevant literature at home and abroad in recent years, discussing the performance and diagnosis, causes, treatment and prevention progress of Esophagogastric anastomotic leaks.
