Objective To investigate the prevalence of overweight and obesity of Hubei college students, and compare the consistency and relevance of each index for determining the overweight and obesity results,so as to provide a more scientific basis for the reasonable application of each indicator.Method Stratified random sampling was applied in Wuhan University and Hubei University students who came from Hubei province, with their age ranging from 19 to 22 years old,and finally 3056 college students were recruited.Epidata3.1 and SPSS 20.0 were used for data recording and analyzing.Descriptive analysis, variance analysis,chi-square test,Kappa value and correlation analysis were performed. Results 1.Among the 3056 college students, the overweight rate was 6.58%,9.16% and 23.79% respectively when evaluated by height-standard weight,BMI and body fat rate, and the differences were statistically significant. The highest obesity rate was in method of body fat rate with a rate of 13.02%,followed by waist-to-hip ratio(7.65%),waist circumference(5.30%)and height-standard weight(4.19%),the lowest was BMI with a rate of 2.52%.The rates were statistically difference.2.The overweight and obesity rate of each index was higher than that of female except body fat rate. The results of urban and rural comparison showed that the overweight rate of male BMI,body fat rate method and obesity rate evaluated by the other four methods except BMI,the detection rate was higher than that of rural areas. The obesity rate of girls was higher than that of rural areas only in waist circumference, and the differences were statistically significant.3.There was no difference in the detection rate of overweight between urban and rural areas, but the gender difference between the same evaluation methods in urban and rural areas were inconsistent.Among boys overweight rate, the maximum percent detection was body fat rate method followed by BMI and height-standard weight method,in addition to 19-year-old urban girls, the maximum urban and rural girls overweight detection rate was body fat rate followed by height-standard weight method and BMI method;urban and rural obesity rates were boys higher than girls, among all age boys and girls obesity rate, the maximum percent detection was body fat rate followed by height-standard weight method and BMI method, the difference was statistically significant.4.The difference of obesity between urban boys and rural girls was statistically significant. The obesity rate was increased with the increase of age when evaluated by waist-to-hip ratio among the rural boys.Obesity rates generally show that boys were higher than girls at the same age;the detection rate of obesity was generally higher in urban areas than in rural areas.5.Each index evaluation of overweight obesity, boys consistent rate were higher than girls; When the incidence of obesity was evaluated, concordance of height-standard weight and BMI was good, the Kappa value was 0.863,the consistency rate of waist circumference and BMI was moderate, and the consistency between the other indexes was low.6.the correlation coefficient r between BMI and body fat rate, height standard weight, waist circumference,waist-to-hip ratio were 0.461,0.701,0.689,0.449,respectively,P<0.01.Conclusion 1.There are differences in the detection rate of overweight and obesity when evaluated by different methods.Compared with the BMI method, the remaining indicators are present to determine the high incidence of obesity.2.The correlation between each index and BMI is different, and each index has applicable areas in evaluating the overweight and obesity rate,so we should be based on actual needs to choose a reasonable evaluation method when used.
