Objective:To retrospectively evaluate the efficacy and safety of a picosecond alexandrite laser versus Q-Switched alexandrite laser for the treatment of acquired bilateral nevus of Ota-like macules.Methods:A total of 56 patients were treated with a picosecond lexandrite laser in our center for cosmetic laser surgery center from November 2016 to April 2017,with a fluence of 1.59-6.37J/cm2,spot size of 2.0-4.0 mm,and pulse width of 550-750ps.Another 46 patients were treated with a Q-Switch alexandrite laser,with a fluence of 6.40-7.40 J/cm2,spot size of 3mm,and pulse width of 70ns.All analysed patients completed at least one treatment and follow-up.The quantity of cleared lesions was primarily analysed to evaluate the efficiency.Adverse events were followed.Results:For the people who achieved an excellent response of macules clearance,less treatment times is needed in PSAL group(p<0.05).After a single session,difference was found between the two lasers in treating acquired bilateral nevus of Ota-like macules.Transient side effects were observed in two groups,but neither group had significant adverse reactions.Conclusion:PSAL is better than QSAL in treating acquired bilateral nevus of Ota-like macules effectively.There is no significant difference in the incidence rate of postinflammatory hyperpigmentation between two devices.
