Objective:observation of the effect of soothing liver and invigorating spleen acupuncture on the serum norepinephrine(NE)content in patients with primary insomnia, effect on the sleep quality of patients, and evaluation of its clinical effect. Methods:Ninety patients with primary insomnia who met the inclusion criteria were enrolled and were equally divided into acupuncture, comprehensive and control group according to the random number table. The acupuncture group was treated with the method of soothing liver and invigorating spleen acupuncture. The comprehensive group was treated with alprazolam on the basis of the acupuncture group, and the control group was given oral alprazolam treatment. The clinical effect of all the three groups of patients was evaluated after 12 days of treatment, and was evaluated again by the follow-up after 1month.The clinical effect of the three groups of treatment methods and the effect on NE content was evaluated and analyzed by comparing the TCM symptom scores, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),the changes of serum NE levels in patients before and after the treatment and the clinical effect.Results:1.After the treatment, the total effective rate of the acupuncture, comprehensive and control groups was 90.0%,93.3%,and 70% respectively. The total effective rate of the acupuncture group and the comprehensive group was better than that of the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference between the acupuncture group and the comprehensive group(P>0.05),indicating that the acupuncture group and the comprehensive group were equivalent and superior to the control group.2.After thetreatment, the TCM symptom scores of the three groups were lower than those before treatment(P<0.05).The scores of the acupuncture group and the comprehensive group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.01),and the comparison between the acupuncture group and the comprehensive group(P>0.05)indicates that the acupuncture group and the comprehensive group had similar improvement on the symptoms of insomnia after treatment and they were superior to the control group. After the follow-up,the scores of TCM symptom in acupuncture group and comprehensive group were lower than those before treatment(P<0.01),and no difference than after treatment(P>0.05);the score of the control group was higher than after treatment(P<0.05)and no difference than before treatment(P>0.05).After the follow-up,the scores of TCM symptom in after treatment were no difference between acupuncture group and comprehensive group, the score of the control group was higher than after treatment(P<0.05).After the follow-up,compared with the after treatment, there was no significant difference between the acupuncture group and the comprehensive group(P>0.05),both were superior to the control group(P<0.05),indicating that the acupuncture group and the comprehensive group had equivalent long-term effect of improving the symptoms of insomnia, and they were superior to the control group.3.After the treatment, the total scores of PSQI in the three groups were lower than those before treatment(P<0.05).There was no difference between the acupuncture group and the comprehensive group(P>0.05),both were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.01),indicating that the acupuncture group and the comprehensive group improved the equivalent sleep quality and they were superior to the control group. The scores of PSQI in the acupuncture group and the comprehensive group were lower than those before the treatment(P<0.05),and there was no difference compared with after the treatment(P>0.05).The total score of PSQI in the control group increased after treatment(P<0.01).After the follow-up,the total scores of PSQI in the acupuncture group and the comprehensive group was no difference(P>0.05),both were significantly lower than thosein the control group(P<0.01),indicating that the acupuncture group and the comprehensive group had equivalent long-term effects on improving sleep quality, and were superior to the control group.4.After the treatment, the scores of PSQI in all three groups were significantly lower than those before the treatment(P<0.05).There was no difference in the scores of PSQI between the acupuncture group and the comprehensive group(P>0.05).The scores of PSQI items in both groups were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05),indicating that the acupuncture group was equivalent to the comprehensive group in improving the quality of sleep, and both were superior to the control group. After the follow-up,the scores of PSQI in the acupuncture group and the comprehensive group were lower than those before the treatment(P<0.05).There was no difference between the two group(P>0.05).After the follow-up,there is no difference in PSQI scores between the acupuncture group and the comprehensive group(P>0.05),indicating that the acupuncture treatment of insomnia is better than western medicine.5.There was no significant difference in the serum NE contents among the three groups(P>0.05).After the treatment, the serum NE contents in the three groups significantly decreased(P<0.01)and the serum NE contents in the acupuncture group and the comprehensive group were significant lower than the control group(P<0.05),the difference was statistically significant, indicating that the acupuncture group and the comprehensive group reduced the serum NE content after the treatment, and the effect was significantly better than the control group;there was no difference in the serum NE content between the acupuncture group and the comprehensive group(P>0.05),the difference was not statistically significant, indicating that there was no difference in the effect of acupuncture and comprehensive group on reducing serum NE content. Conclusion:soothing liver, invigorating spleen and tranquilizing acupuncture can significantly reduce the serum NE content in patients with primary insomnia, and significantly improve the sleep quality of patients. Its short-term and long-term effects are better than the western medicine alprazolam tablets, and the clinical effect is remarkable.Itcan improve patients' quality of life and is an effective method worth promoting.
