| Purpose: The correlation between visual function and thickness of macular edema and the best corrected visual acuity was analyzed by MAIA microfield detection in macular edema patients.Method: A total of 120 patients(157 eyes,95 males and 62 females)with macular edema were enrolled.Among them,there were 38 patients with AMD(38 eyes in total,19 eyes in females and 19 eyes in males),36 patients RVO(36eyes in total,7 eyes in CRVO patients,7 eyes in females and 29 eyes in BRVO patients,13 eyes in males and16 eyes in females).46 patients(83 eyes,35 males,63 eyes,11 females,20 eyes)with stage 2-3 CME.All patients underwent optometry,and visual was examined by Log MAR and the best corrected visual acuity was recorded.OCT was used to detect retinal thickness in macular.The peripheral data were discarded and divided into 5 parts The perimeter of MAIA was made by Center Vue was used to detect the macular mean sensitivity.Results of microperimetry(MS,MS nose,MS subms,MS temporal,MS central,MS all),fixation rate(P1,P2)and macular integrity assessment were recorded.Pearson correlation analysis was used for correlation analysis,and independent sample t test was used to compare the differences between different groups.Results : 1.Correlation analysis of MS and BCVA in patients with macular edema in general can be obtained: MSsuperior,temporal,inferior,nasal,medium,P1,P2,MS in total(r superior =0.594,r temporal =0.571,r inferior =0.429,r nasal =0.535,r medium =0.567,r p1=0.339,rp2=0.320,r MS =0.639,r MI=-0.299,P < 0.05).It can be obtained that each quadrant MS and average MS have a positive correlation with BCVA,and BCVA also has a positive correlation with fixation rate P1 and P2.The analysis results of the correlation between CRT and BCVA are as follows: CRTsuperior,temporal,inferior,nasal,medium(r superior =-0.415,r temporal =-0.449,r inferior=-0.367,r nasal=-0.305,r medium=-0.338,P <0.005),it can be concluded that CRT is negatively correlated with BCVA.2.The results of correlation analysis of BCVA and MAIA in AMD group were as follows: MSsuperior,temporal,inferior,nasal,medium,P1,P2,total MS(r superior=0.380,p=0.018,r temporal =0.319,p=0.051,r inferior=0.511,p=0.001,r nasal =0.443,p=0.006,r medium =0.401,p=0.013,rp1=0.058,p=0.730,rp2=0.051,p=0.762,r MS total =0.548,p= 0.000).It can be concluded that except for the weak correlation between the temporal retinal MS and BCVA,the remaining quadrant MS and average MS have a positive correlation with BCVA,and the fixation rates P1,P2 and BCVA are not correlated.The results of correlation analysis between CRT and BCVA were as follows: CRT superior,CRTtemporal,CRT inferior,CRTnasalt,CRT medium(r superior =-0.040,P=0.811,r temporal =0.050,P= 0.767,r inferior =-0.074,P= 0.658,r nasal =-0.250,P= 0.130,r medium =0.016,P= 0.924).CRT was found to be unrelated to BCVA.3.Correlation analysis of MS and BCVA in patients with CRVO macular edema showed that: MS,temporal,inferior,nasal,medium,P1,P2,MS in total(r superior=0.977,r temporal =0.983,r inferior =0.899,r nasal =0.982,r medium=0.983,rp1=0.930,rp2 =0.921,r MS=0.983;P < 0.05).There was a positive correlation between MS and BCVA,and between BCVA and fixation rate P1 and P2.According to the correlation analysis of CRT and BCVA,CRT superior,CRTtemporal,CRT inferior,CRTnasalt,CRT medium(r superior =0.177,r temporal =-0.428,r inferior =-0.106,r nasal=0.521,r medium=0.557;P > 0.05).It can be concluded that in patients with CRVO macular edema,there is no correlation between CRT and BCVA in each partition.The correlation between MS and BCVA in the upper quadrant of BRVO group with superior temporal branch vein occlusion(r=0.365,p=0.150),Correlation analysis of CRT and BCVA :(r=0.177,p=0.704),BCVA was not correlated with MS and CRT.Correlation analysis of BCVA and retinal quadrant MS in BRVO patients with inferior branch vein occlusion :(r=0.103,p=0.749);Correlation analysis between CRT and BCVA :(r=0.685,p=0.014).It can be concluded that MS in the lower quadrant is not correlated with BCVA,while CRT is positively correlated with BCVA.Correlation analysis was performed on MS and BCVA in all quadrant patients with macular edema in BRVO group: MS,superior,temporal,inferior,nasal,medium,P1,P2,MS total(r superior =0.328,r temporal =-0.171,r inferior =-0.334,r nasal=-0.097,r medium =-0.011,rp1=-0.429,rp2=-0.421,r MS total =-0.058;P > 0.05).Correlation analysis of CRT and BCVA: CRT superior,CRT temporal,CRT inferior,CRT nasal,CRT medium(r superior =-0.330,r temporal =-0.301,r inferior =0.320,r nasal =-0.090,r medium =0.003;P >0.05).It was found that MS and CRT were not correlated with BCVA.4.The results of correlation analysis between MS and BCVA in DME patients were as follows: MS superior,temporal,inferior,nasal,medium,P1,P2,MS total(r superior =0.702,r temporal =0.663,r inferior =0.551,r nasal =0.532,r medium=0.700,rp1=0.354,rp2=0.293,r MS in total =0.724;P < 0.05).r MI = 0.318,P = 0.000;Quadrant MS and P1 were found to be positively correlated with P2 and BCVA,and macular integrity assessment was negatively correlated with the best corrected visual acuity.The results of correlation analysis between CRT and BCVA were as follows: CRT superior,CRT temporal,CRT inferior,CRT nasal,CRT medium(r superior=-0.689,rtemporal=-0.664,r inferior=-0.621,r nasal=-0.654,r medium =-0.630;P < 0.05),It can be concluded that there is a negative correlation between CRT and BCVA in each partition.5.The result of correlation analysis between MS and CRT in the group of DME(r=-0.544,p=0.000),the result of correlation analysis between MS and CRT in the total macular edema group,AMD,CRVO,BRVO superior group,BRVO subtemporal group,and BRVO edema involved whole group(r=-0.114,r=-0.141,r=-0.300,r=-0.300,r=-0.188,r=-0.030;P > 0.05).It can be concluded that there is a positive correlation between MS and CRT in the DME group,but no correlation between MS and CRT in the other groups.Conclusion:1.MS and BCVA have a good correlation in the macular edema group,AMD group and DME group,suggesting the feasibility of MS as a subjective examination to evaluate the visual function of patients.MS is of great significance in the evaluation of macular function and is one of the important predictors of vision.2.The correlation between MS and BCVA was better for superior and inferior in the group of AMD.It also can provides some ideas for us to select eccentric fixation position for visual function training in atrophic AMD patients.However,the specific reasons for the correlation still need further study.3.The correlation between MS and BCVA in the RVO group was poor,and there were many influencing factors.The specific reasons still need to be further studied.4.In the evaluation of patients’ conditions,microfield examination,as a subjective examination,can be used as a supplement to objective examination,and has a good clinical application prospect. |
