Post-traumatic Growth And Its Correlation With The Other Positive Psychological Traits In Patients With Lung Cancer

Objective 1.To explore the post-traumatic growth level of lung cancer patients,and analyze the correlation between the post-traumatic growth and forgiveness,hope and well-being.2.To establish the PTGI-C regional norm of lung cancer patients.3.To analyze the the influencing factors on PTG and discuss the promotion strategies,through quantitative and qualitative research in lung cancer patients.Methods 1.Quantitative study on post-traumatic growth(PTG)of lung cancer patients and its correlation with psychological traits: A convenient sampling method was used to select 650 lung cancer patients who came from four third-grade class-A hospitals of Zhengzhou.General information questionnaire,PTGI-C(Posttraumatic Growth Inventory),Hearland Forgiveness Scale,Herth Hope Index and World Health Organization Five-item Well-Being Index were used to investigate the level of PTG of lung cancer patients and its correlation with forgiveness,hope and well-being,finding out its influencing factors and establishing the PTGI-C regional norm of lung cancer patients.2.Qualitative study on PTG and promotion strategies of lung cancer patients: The purposive sampling method was adopted,semi-structured interview were carried out in 11 lung cancer patients who had higher level of PTG in order to explore deeply into the influencing factors and promotion strategies.Part 1 Quantitative study 1.The total score of PTG was(51.68 +18.31),the mean score was(2.58 +0.92),the dimension score of relationship with others was the highest(3.00 +0.94),the dimension score of self-transformation was the lowest(2.32 +0.95).2.According to the results of the PTGI-C regional norm for lung cancer patients,the threshold of T-score was 60 and 67,60?PTG<67 was medium growth,PTG?67 was high growth.Among the 602 lung cancer patients,19.1% of patients' PTG were on medium and higher level,the rest of 80.9% was at a lower level.3.The total score of Forgiveness scale was(100.95±11.03),self-forgiveness was(54±6.40)and forgiving others was(46.96±8.78).Total score of Herth Hope Index was(32.96±5.75),the attitude was(10.59±2.00),the action was(11.45±1.97),and the relationship was(10.91±2.16).Well-Being index was(11.18±5.62).4.Pearson correlation analysis showed that the PTG of lung cancer patients was positively correlated with well-being,hope and interpersonal forgiveness;Self-forgiveness was only positively correlated with the new possibilities of PTG.5.When PTG was set to be the dependent variable in One-way ANOVA statistics,the significant factors are the following(P < 0.05): age,education,marital status,family income,domicile,religion,personality characteristics,employment status,payment method,the stage of disease,treatment,course of disease,and whether there were other diseases.Multivariable linear regression showed that the stage of disease,religion,employment status,personality characteristics,family income,marital status were the predictors of PTG of lung cancer patients,accounting for 36.3% of the total variance.Among them,the stage of disease,divorce / widowhood play a negative role.Part 2 Qualitative studyFour main themes were obtained by in-depth interviews with 11 lung cancer patients with higher level of PTG:(1)positive and negative psychological coexistence;(2)life perception;(3)support system enhancement;(4)interpersonal harmony.Conclusion 1.The PTG of lung cancer patients is on the lower-middle level,which needs to be further improved.2.The forgiveness,hope and well-being of lung cancer patients are positively correlated with PTG.The higher the level of psychological traits,the higher the PTG.3.The regional norm of PTGI-C in patients with lung cancer in ZhengZhou was initially Results established,and set the boundary value of PTG level.4.The stage of disease,religion,employment status,personality characteristics,family income and marital status contribute to the level of PTG.
