Purposes: Through the study of traditional Chinese medicine syndromes in patients with maintenance hemodialysis complicated with malnutrition,to provide a theoretical basis for the syndrome differentiation and treatment of this population, and ultimately to reduce the incidence of malnutrition, improve their quality of life, and prolong their survival time. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional survey method.First of all,to develop a questionnaire of TCM syndromes in patients with maintenance hemodialysis complicated with malnutrition. After screening cases, patients who met the criteria were asked to fill in the TCM syndrome questionnaire, and then establish a TCM syndrome database.Using SPSS 22.0 statistical software for clinical analysis of patients with descriptive analysis, factor analysis and cluster analysis,to get the TCM syndrome distribution of this kind of patient. At last,do the correlation analysis. Results: The clinical data of 131 patients with maintenance hemodialysis complicated with malnutrition were analyzed by frequency analysis. The symptoms and signs of frequency less than 5% were deleted, and the remaining four diagnostic information were analyzed by factor analysis to obtain 16 common factors.Clustering analysis of common factors to get the syndrome types of this kind of patient. The syndrome types include turbid phlegm obstructing, deficiency of kidney essences, wind and dryness due to blood deficiency, water overflowing due to yang deficiency, static blood blocking collaterals and deficiency of both qi and yin.Correlation analysis of various types of syndromes found that some of these syndromes have significant differences in biochemical indexes. Conclusion: Among the patients included in this study, water overflowing due to yang deficiency and deficiency of both qi and yin is common, while turbid phlegm and the static blood are the main causes of pathogenic factor.Different types of patients with gender, age, dialysis age found no significant difference.Hemoglobin levels in patients with wind and dryness due to blood deficiency and deficiency of kidney essences were significantly lower than those in other patients. The levels of albumin and prealbumin in patients with deficiency of kidney essences are significantly lower than those of other patients. The level of parathyroid hormone in patients with static blood blocking collaterals was significantly higher than those of other patients.
