| Objective: To detect the expression level of autophagy-related protein microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3(LC3B)and TIGAR in nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)and their roles in NPC development by clinicopathological data, which may benefit the prediction of prognosis. Methods: A number of 182 NPC specimens and their clinical and pathological data, including gender, age, pathological diagnosis, and T stage,N stage and TNM stage, were collected from the First Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University from January 1st,2015 to December 2015.Then,the expression of LC3 B protein and TIGAR protein was detected by immunohistochemistry. The correlation between the expression of two proteins in NPC tissues and the clinicopathological variables and prognosis were analyzed by mathematical statistics. Results: 1.LC3 B and TIGAR were primarily distributed in the cytoplasm of nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells. The high expression rates of LC3B(+)and TIGAR(+)were 30.8% and 64.3%,respectively.2.Spearman analysis showed that the correlation between LC3 B and TIGAR was significant(P=0.045).3.Survival analysis showed that LC3B(+)or TIGAR(-)expression was corresponding to better overall survival(OS)and failure-free survival(FFS).However,LC3B-or TIGAR+ expression showed a poor overall survival(OS)and failure-free survival(FFS),respectively.4.Cox regression analysis showed that TIGAR positive and LC3 B negative(TIGAR(+)/LC3B(-))was significantly associated with poor overall survival(OS)and failure-free survival(FFS)(P<0.05).Conclusion: LC3 B and TIGAR may serve as two potential biomarkers for predicting the prognosis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma. |
