Objective: To analyze and compare the short-term clinical efficacy and quality of life improvement of two VVs treatment methods: high ligation and stripping of the great saphenous vein(HL/S)and the DSA guide foam sclerotherapy alone(FS),so as to guide clinical treatment selection. Methods: A retrospective comparison was made between the two groups of 30 patients with VVs who received FS or HL/S alone. The evaluation included efficacy after the first treatment, postoperative wound status, complications, operative time, and immobile time.During follow-up,patients' VCSS score was recorded, and the patient's quality of life was evaluated using the CIVIQ 20 score to compare the advantages of the two treatments and the improvement in the patient's quality of life. Results: There were 30 cases in FS group and 30 cases in HL/S group. There were 15 cases of male and 15 cases of female in FS group, age 54.97 9.78 years old,9 cases of C2,8 cases of C3,12 cases of C4,1 case of C5,course of disease 5(3,14)years.As the control group, there were 17 males and 13 females in the surgical group, aged 55.8 8.47 years old,8 in the C2 group,11 in the C3 group,9 in the C4 group, and 2 in the C5 group. The course of disease was 8.5(6,12)years.The preoperative VCSS score of the surgical group was 11.7 1.99,and the score of the CIVIQ score was 55.6 9.53,all of which were P > 0.05.There was no statistical difference between the two groups. The complete occlusion rate of the FS group and the HL/S group at 6 months after varicose veins was 90% and 100%,respectively.Both groups had mild phlebitis and local pigmentation. The incidence of postoperative vascularized complications was 10% in the FS group, and the incidence of rough skin or pigmentation was 20%.The incidence of vascular complications after HL/S surgery was 33.3%,and the incidence of rough skin or pigmentation was 13.3%.Postoperatively,the surgery time and recovery time of the HL/S group were both greater than that of the FSgroup, and the CIVIQ 20 score of the HL/S group was lower than that of the FS group. Conclusion: After a 6-month follow-up,HL/S FS alone in the treatment of VVs is same effective in clinic, but its operation time and recovery time are relatively long,as well as the quality of life of patients are affected,so it is recommended to apply FS alone in the treatment of VVs in clinical practice.
