Referring to the human body,we may reflexively think of various organs in the anatomical illustration or erect human body covered with muscles, nerves and blood vessels, which are found by the scalpel. However, when making a general survey of body images in different nationalities, regions and historical periods,we will find that the human body images present different life characteristics in the eyes of different civilizations. The mysterious context(veins)and acupuncture points in traditional Chinese medicine make other nations surprised. The muscle system, which ancient Greeks paid attention to,is ignored by other nations.Nevertheless, other nations cannot imagine the chakras sensed by Indians either. It can be seen that although we have the same body structure, the life forms are described diversely by various cultural traditions. These diverse forms mean profound differences in the perception, cognition and imagination about human body among diverse civilizations. This article tries to compare human images in ancient Greek medicine, traditional Chinese medicine(ancient Chinese Fangshu)and Indian yoga as a clue. The first part analyzes the cognitive differences among the three cultures on the characteristics of life with the dimension of “pulse”(pulse, context, chakra),then the author will think about how different culture traditions observe and recognize the body, and try to find the metaphorical preferences in terms of perception and ideology in the perspective of body. The second part will explore the interaction between the observation and the natural philosophy among the three culture. All of these questions is inseparable from conceptions of the universe and conceptions of the life, which are developed from interactions among myth, religion and politics. So,the last part will combine the cognition of life with the way of body-existing and briefly talk about the understanding of life among the three cultures.
